Abstract

A gas introduction part 1b is provided to a folded product of a curtain air bag body part 1a, in such a manner as to be folded thereover. In the case where a vehicle is either subjected to a broadside collision or an overturn, an inflator 9 operates to blow out gas, which is then fed into a curtain airbag 1 so as to cause said curtain airbag 1 to start to inflate. Recess portions 4, 5 are provided in front of and in back of the gas introduction part 1b at an upper edge of the curtain airbag body part 1a. Because of this configuration, the capacity (package volume) of the folded product of the curtain airbag 1 can be kept small.

Abstract

Provided are a seat belt retractor and a seat belt device in which the load control pattern of an energy absorption mechanism can be easily set as desired. In an energy absorption mechanism 5 of a seatbelt retractor 1 according to a first embodiment, a deficient area 52d deficient of teeth is formed in at least one of multiple round gears 52c positioned on second torsion bars 52. Forming this deficient area 52d makes it possible for twisting deformation of the two second torsion bars 52 to end at different timings, and for the energy absorption mechanism to be load-controlled to a medium load β and a low load γ.

Abstract

When a vehicle experiences a side collision, gas supplied from an inflator 2 to a first inflating section 10 inflates a ring-shaped chamber 12 and, at the same time, is supplied to a second inflating section 20 through a first narrow path 14 to inflate a first chamber 21 and a second chamber 22. The first chamber 21 is bent near the first narrow path 14 toward a passenger P to be interposed between the upper section of the inflated first inflating section 10 and the head H of the passenger P. The second chamber 22 is inflated downward from the front end of the first chamber 21. The second chamber 22 is located in front of the right shoulder of the passenger P to restrain the right shoulder and the vicinity thereof. Because the second chamber 22 is inflated and deployed from the front side of the head of the passenger P to the front side of the right shoulder and the vicinity thereof, movement of the passenger's head H toward the front right side is restricted in the case of a side collision coming from the oblique front right side.

Abstract

During emergencies such as collision, overturn, etc., of a vehicle, an inflator 6 is actuated and airbags 1R, 1L inflate. Top sections 2 of the airbags 1R, 1L deploy above the shoulder portions of an occupant H, side sections 3 deploy from the shoulders to the sides of the upper arms, and front sections 4 expand from the shoulders in front of the upper part of the right chest or left chest. Abstract

A spool 20 and a locking base 22 are connected through a torsion bar 70. A stop gear 82 and a positioning member 86 are engaged through threads with the male thread 42c of a locking base 40 so as to be separated from each other a predetermined distance. The locking base 40 and the torsion bar 70 are mounted to the spool 20 while the distance of separation between the stop gear 82 and the positioning member 86 is accurately set to a specified value. When the tension of webbing increases due to the movement of a vehicle occupant in a vehicle collision and provides the torsion bar 70 with EA rotation while twisting the torsion bar 70, the stop gear 82 is screwed toward the positioning member 86 and brought into contact therewith.

Abstract

This seat belt retractor is provided with: a spool for winding a seat belt; a lock mechanism having a locking member which normally rotates with the spool and which, when actuated, prevents the spool from rotating in the direction in which the seat belt is pulled out; a motor for providing power for rotating the spool; and a power transmitting mechanism disposed on the same side as the lock mechanism with respect to the spool and transmitting the power of the motor to the spool. The power transmitting mechanism has a clutch disposed on a different shaft from the rotating shaft of the spool. The clutch blocks the transmission of rotational force from the spool to the motor and transmits rotational force from the motor to the spool.

Abstract

According to the present invention, an inflator 4 operates and a passenger facing surface 2f expands along the front surface of a passenger P. Tethers 31, 32 produce tension by being pulled by the passenger facing surface 2f and valves 21, 22 enter a state of overlapping vent holes 11, 12. As a result, the amount of gas flowing out through the vent holes 11, 12 is reduced. When the passenger P is restrained by a main bag 2 that has inflated and expanded and the passenger facing surface 2f is pushed inward by the passenger P, the tethers 31, 32 relax, the valves 21, 22 move away from the vent holes 11, 12, and the gas inside the main bag 2 flows out through the vent holes 11, 12. When the passenger is small, the constraint of the passenger is completed before a sub bag 3 finishes inflating.

Abstract

A seat belt retractor for a seat belt includes a spool for winding the seatbelt, a first seat belt load limiting mechanism for limiting load applied on the seat belt in an emergency, a second seat belt load limiting mechanism for limiting the load applied to the seat belt when a predetermined condition based on an emergency situation is satisfied in the emergency, a driving member for actuating the second seat belt load limiting mechanism, and a controller for controlling the driving member. When the predetermined condition is satisfied, the controller sets the second seat belt load limiting mechanism in an operative state by not actuating the driving member. When the predetermined condition is not satisfied, the controller sets the second seat belt load limiting mechanism in an inoperative state by actuating the driving member.

Abstract

A side airbag apparatus includes a side airbag having a plurality of partitioned chambers therein to be inflated and deployed in a space between a side wall portion of a body of a motor vehicle and an occupant seated on a seat disposed inside the body. An inflator has an approximately cylindrical shape and blows gas out for inflating and deploying the side airbag from one side in a longitudinal direction of the inflator. A cylindrical member is disposed in a manner so as to cover the one side in the longitudinal direction of the inflator and has a squeezing portion for restricting a flow path of the gas blown out from the inflator.
