This invention provides a convenient method of forming and applying a thermoplastic material for roadway markings, comprising: obtaining individual components of a thermoplastic composite material suitable for roadway markings; mixing and heating the individual components to produce a fully compounded form of the thermoplastic composite material; solidifying and prilling the fully compounded form of the thermoplastic composite material to produce a plurality of thermoplastic prills; on a marking vehicle or mobile apparatus, introducing the thermoplastic prills to an on-board melter to produce a liquid phase of the thermoplastic prills; and applying the liquid phase of the thermoplastic prills to a roadway, thereby marking the roadway. Compositions and systems are also described. Surprisingly, prills melt in approximately half the time as the powder/granular form. Also, the melter can be operated at lower temperature, leading to less discoloration of material.

A coating for pelletized thermoplastic road marking material is provided in which at least one of waxes, silica compounds, and inorganic compounds is provided on the surface of the thermoplastic pellet. The pellet is formed by mixing a binder mixture with a filler mixture, heating the mixed ingredients while mixing into a homogenous molten mixture and then extruding the molten mixture. The extruded material is cooled, cut into individual pellets and then coated. The coating prevents clumping of the pellets and also imparts improved flowability and lower melting point properties. This disclosure relates to epoxy compositions and more particularly to two- part epoxy compositions that are useful for marking substrates, such as roadway and airport runway surfaces. The compositions and methods described herein can reduce build-up on applicator pump seals. Such build-up can lead to pump failure. In some cases, the compositions can reduce down-time due to pump failure. However, the compositions retain the necessary properties for substrate marking, such as curing within a short period of time.
A ketone-containing polymer can provide for a paint having increased scrub resistance and decreased changes in viscosity, while maintaining quick dry times. In particular, the polymers may be used in compositions for traffic markings and industrial coatings.
This application relates to a method of forming multiple inlaid patterns to complete a final predetermined rotational pattern onto or into a pavement surface. The pattern may be selected for functional or decorative purposes. In one embodiment the method includes the steps of providing a first template created of multiple blocks with portions of rotational isometric patterns having a predetermined pattern; impressing the first template into the pavement surface when the pavement surface is in a pliable state forming an impression therein; removing the first template from the pavement surface exposing the impression; providing a grid having a predetermined pattern matching the pattern of the first template; inserting the grid into the impression; and fixing the grid in position within the impression to form the inlaid pattern thereby creating multiple blocks of said portions of said patterns such that rotational isometric patterns form a final rotational predetermined isometric patterned preform.

The composition provides alkali resistant formulations comprising at least 6 weight percent PE/PP, 20 weight percent binder resin with between 5 and 15 weight percent of a tackifier resin, between 2 and 12 weight percent titanium dioxide with an optional organic dye, wherein the intermix is at least 30 weight percent of the composition and wherein the intermix is an inorganic filler that greatly reduce or eliminate debris resistance when compared to other polymer backbone compositions.
