Abstract

A pedal-assisted bicycle comprises a traction system provided with a battery pack, a central electric motor, an electrical device operating as an electric generator and a control unit. The control unit is configured to receive a plurality of first input signals representative of an operating condition of the bicycle and to receive a second input signal representative of the state of charge of the battery pack. The control unit is configured to identify the operating condition of the bicycle as a function of the first input signals and to emit, as a function of the second input signal and the identified operating condition, a driving signal structured so as to drive the electrical device and the central electric motor so that the state of charge follows a defined reference state of charge.

Abstract

A pedal-assisted bicycle includes a frame, a traction system with a battery, a central motor, a hub motor and a control unit. The central motor is directly connected to the pedal assembly to provide torque to the pedal assembly and is powered by the battery, while the hub motor is arranged at the hub and is powered by the battery. The control unit receives first input signals of an operating condition selectively variable between a servo operating condition and a charging operating condition and to detect the operating condition as a function of the first input signals and, in the servo operating condition, to emit a driving signal to drive the hub motor and the central motor following a maximum efficiency curve obtained from an envelope of the efficiency curves of the hub motor and the electric motor as a function of the linear speed (Vbike) and the transmission ratio.

A method for controlling the cruising speed of a hybrid or electric propulsion vehicle includes detecting a forward travel speed of the vehicle, identifying a downhill forward travel condition of the vehicle, activating a control of the downhill cruising speed following said identification of said downhill forward travel condition, determining a reference speedy for the vehicle and calculating a charging current for the battery pack generated by the electric motor as a function of a deviation between said reference speed and the detected forward travel speed of the vehicle. Abstract

Method for driving a current signal in an electric motor of a pedal-assisted bicycle, performed by generating an operating signal, representative of a time evolution of the instantaneous speed and/or instantaneous acceleration of the bicycle. Abstract

A method for identifying the transmission ratio selected by a cyclist while using a bicycle comprising a transmission defining a plurality of different transmission ratios. The method is performed by measuring at least one bicycle usage magnitude, which is used to generate an operational signal representative of a time evolution of an instantaneous speed and/or instantaneous acceleration of the bicycle. For each possible transmission ratio, the operational signal is filtered at a frequency equal to twice the instantaneous speed multiplied by the transmission ratio, so as to generate a respective plurality of independent filtered signals (F). The transmission ratio in use is then identified as the transmission ratio that generates the filtered signal (F) with the highest instantaneous value.

The system comprises a sensor for detecting the longitudinal speed (Vx) of the bicycle, said sensor being configured to generate a signal representive of the longitudinal speed of the bicycle; an inertial measurement unit configured to measure the longitudinal (ax), lateral (ay) and vertical (az) accelerations and the angular velocities of roll (ωx), pitch (wy) and yaw (ωz) of the bicycle and configured to generate signals representive of the above accelerations and velocities; and a module (2) for estimating the slope (θ) of the bicycle. Abstract

It is disclosed an adaptive system (1) to control a pedal- assisted bicycle (100). The system (1) comprises an electric motor (101) configured to operate as a motor and as a generator associated with a wheel (102) of the bicycle (100), a rechargeable battery (106) having a power exchange relationship with the electric motor (101), a pedal-thrust group (103) to be pedaled by a cyclist, a transmission (104) operatively interposed between the pedal-thrust group (103) and a wheel (102) of the bicycle comprising a free-wheel mechanism (105). The system comprises a sensor configured to generate a signal representative of an angular speed (ωwheel) of a wheel (102) of the bicycle, a sensor configured to generate a signal representative of an angular speed (ωfree-wheel) of the free-wheel mechanism (105), a sensor configured to generate a signal representative of the state of charge (SoC) of the battery (106), a nominal control module (2) configured to generate a motor nominal command signal (I°motor) based at least on said signals representative of the angular speed (ωwheel) of the wheel (102) and of the angular speed (ωfree-wheel) of the free-wheel mechanism (105), wherein said motor nominal command signal (I°motor) or a portion (i°cyclist) thereof is defined by a inversion speed (vlimit) of the bicycle beneath which the motor (101) supplies an assistance to the pedal- thrust and above which the motor (101) operates as a generator, and wherein said motor nominal command signal (I°motor) or a portion (i°cyclist) thereof is further defined by a maximum energy recovery value (irec,min) when the bicycle is not braking. The system further comprises an adaptive control module (3) configured to generate a motor corrected command signal ( I °motor, corr) determined from the motor nominal command signal (I°motor) corrected based on the signal representative of the state of charge (SoC) of the battery (106), which is configured to modify said inversion speed (vlimit) and said maximum energy recovery value (irec,min) of the motor nominal command signal (I°motor) or of a portion (i°cyclist) thereof based on the signal representative of the state of charge (SoC). The system is further configured to supply to the motor (101) a reference command signal (I°ref) determined based on said motor corrected command signal ( I °motor, corr) ·
