Abstract
A low-cost objective lens design uses only ZnS optical material, suitable for use with an uncooled infrared bolometer having a curved focal plane. Its objective lens field of view is at least ±20.0° over a 1280×720 pixel array with 0.0012 mm pitch. Lens chromatic aberrations are corrected over at least the 8-11 micron infrared wavelength band. The objective lens operates at a relatively fast F #/1.0 which is common in the art for bolometer applications.

This invention relates to a wholly recombinant four factor hemostatic complex concentrate (4F-PCC) composition, human liver cell-produced product. Methods of producing a hemostatic composition using a hepatocyte cell line and a CRISPR/Cas9 gene activation multiplexing, which allows for simultaneous and high level expression of the FII, FVII, FIX, and FX clotting factors. The resultant product is a recombinant resuscitation solution to aid in mitigation of coagulopathy, reversal of coagulopathic states, and fluid resuscitation.

A multi-compartment mortar increment container (MIC) enables burning of two propellants to broaden the pressure-time curve providing additional energy and force behind a mortar shell while maintaining allowable pressures. During the ballistic cycle, the mortar increment container burns allowing the faster propellant to mix with the slower propellant. The slower propellant will burn later in the ballistic cycle generating higher pressure behind the projectile leading to higher velocity.

Abstract
A battery activation device uses ballistic pressure to directly activate a liquid reserve battery and simultaneously complete the battery ground circuit to the electronics system. The gas pressure generated during ballistic launch reacts upon a piston face that transforms the pressure directly into a linear force which is then applied to the liquid reserve battery for activation. An internal shear disc prevents unintentional battery activation from an accidental drop and if sufficient launch pressure has not been realized by device.

In this disclosure, a zebrafish model is established for rapid screening of potential drug candidates for prevention and treatment of sepsis. To this end, three endpoints (mortality, tail-fin edema, and reactive oxygen species detection) screening method is established to identify drugs of potential use among approved drugs and/or novel small molecules, and 16 drugs were identified, which target serotonin receptors, receptor tyrosine kinases, dietary supplements, antihistamine drugs, serotonin uptake inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, and other antipsychotic drugs.

Methods, devices, systems, and computer-readable media are described for providing adaptive and closed loop hemorrhagic shock resuscitation. A computing device may cause activation of an automated tourniquet configured to impede extremity bleeding. Abstract
A majority of military casualties occur during the pre-hospital period. The cause of death is largely associated with massive traumatic bleeding that leads to organ damage due to sustained hypoxia. Currently, therapeutics are lacking at the point of injury to mitigate hypoxic damage and maintain the survivability of severe hemorrhage prior to reaching medical facilities. This invention addresses that by introducing a method of co-administering prolyl hydroxylase domain inhibitor (PHDi, MK-8617), anti-fibrinolytic agent (tranexamic acid), and bradykinin receptor antagonist (icatibant) as anti-hemorrhage agents in combination with resuscitation fluid treatment with colloid solution of 25% human albumin that has an advantage of relatively small volume requirement to maintain blood volume. In addition, a kit comprising anti-hemorrhage agents that can be easily carried to the battlefield is also provided here. The therapeutic application of those agents on or near the point of injury can stabilize hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha and enhance blood clot formation, which improves the patient's cellular adaptation to hypoxia and reduce hemorrhage, and thus can decrease organ failure and increase the patient's survivability.

Abstract
A filter adaptor is provided for a respirator that allows the respirator to accommodate filters that have a different connection interface than the filter connection on the respirator. The adaptor includes a body having a first surface and an opposite second surface and defines a through hole. Mask locking tabs on the first surface engage with a complementary bayonet attachment the respirator. A first wall on the first surface and an inlet port gasket thereon nests within a complementary inlet port on the respirator to form an air-tight seal between the first wall and the inlet port. A valve ring on the first surface of the body engages an inlet valve on the respirator. A second wall on the second surface includes filter locking tabs that engage with a complementary filter opening of a filter. A filter gasket around the second wall forms an air-tight seal between the filter opening and the adaptor.

Abstract
Apparatuses are disclosed herein for holding and securing an item. In one embodiment the item holder includes at least one layer of material between two outer layers of material. The two outer layers are made of a different material than the material of the at least one layer of material. Portions of the two outer layers and the at least one layer are secured together to form an opened ended receptacle for receiving an item. A set of hook/loop fasteners are secured to the exterior of the receptacle. The item holder also includes a material loop adapted to receive the receptacle. The material loop includes an interior surface that includes a second set of hook/loop fasters adapted to contact the first set of hook/loop fasteners. Although not required, an insertion tool may be used for insertion of receptacle into the material loop.

In one embodiment, a flotation apparatus for treating a liquid medium includes a flotation body; one or more UV lamps connected to the flotation body to be submerged in the liquid medium from the flotation body; and a filter screen connected to the flotation body to be submerged in the liquid medium upstream of the one or more UV lamps. Abstract
A water treatment system that includes cationic polyacrylamide (cPAM) and xanthan (i.e., xanthan gum) effectively treats water contaminated with microorganisms such as harmful algal blooms (HAB). The combination of cPAM and xanthan forms cohesive thread-like flocs with the microorganisms entrapped therein. The flocs are then separated from the aqueous media, thereby removing the microorganisms. The combination of cPAM and xanthan has dramatically reduced toxicity compared to cPAM alone.

A vehicle or shipping-container monitoring system is provided. The system is used to sample the interior environment of the container and if needed, clear a potentially hazardous material from the interior of the container prior to conventional opening. The system includes a monitoring assembly affixed to a first through-penetration in the vehicle container, an evacuation assembly affixed to a second through-penetration in the vehicle container, and an intake penetration with a cap affixed to a third through-penetration in the vehicle container. A method is also provided to assess the interior of a vehicle or shipping container for hazardous gases or vapors prior to opening the container.

An ammunition projectile puller includes a body with one or more jaws to engage the projectile. The jaws can generally displace axially or radially relative to an axis of a through opening, and/or rotate around an axis transverse to the through axis, all within a predetermined range of motion. The jaws obtain a reliable purchase on the projectile to facilitate the extraction. The extracted projectile is cleared from the puller by the insertion of the next projectile to be extracted. The device is thus self-locating, self-locking, self-clearing, tolerant of projectile variation, operable with different projectile types and calibers, reliable, and efficient.

A composite product includes basalt fibers and a liquid polymer resin mixed with a curing agent and infused into the basalt fibers. A method of making the composite product includes mixing a liquid polymer resin with a curing agent to form a resin matrix; infusing the resin matrix into basalt fibers; and curing the basalt fibers infused with the resin matrix to form the composite product. The method may further include adding an additive including at least one of graphene or graphite to the liquid polymer resin and the curing agent, and mixing the additive with them to form the resin matrix which is infused into the basalt fibers. It may further include weighing the additive, at about 0.1% to 0.3% of a weight of the liquid polymer resin and curing agent, to be added to the liquid polymer resin and curing agent.

Initial Tsk and HR complexities at rest may form a baseline or normalization factor used to individualize the system. A system and method for producing a recombinant Moringa oleifera coagulant protein (MO) in Bacillus includes the expression of a recombinant nucleic acid encoding the MO protein fused or linked to a Bacillus signal peptide (SP). The recombinant MO protein has coagulation/flocculation activity and can be used in the treatment of contaminated water, particularly drinking water. Abstract
A majority of military casualties occur during the pre-hospital period. The cause of death is largely associated with massive traumatic bleeding that leads to organ damage due to sustained hypoxia. Currently, therapeutics are lacking at the point of injury to mitigate hypoxic damage and maintain the survivability of severe hemorrhage prior to reaching medical facilities. This invention addresses that by introducing a method of co-administering prolyl hydroxylase domain inhibitor (PHDi, MK-8617), anti-fibrinolytic agent (tranexamic acid), and bradykinin receptor antagonist (icatibant) as anti-hemorrhage agents in combination with resuscitation fluid treatment with colloid solution of 25% human albumin that has an advantage of relatively small volume requirement to maintain blood volume. In addition, a kit comprising anti-hemorrhage agents that can be easily carried to the battlefield is also provided here. The therapeutic application of those agents on or near the point of injury can stabilize hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha and enhance blood clot formation, which improves the patient's cellular adaptation to hypoxia and reduce hemorrhage, and thus can decrease organ failure and increase the patient's survivability.

An apparatus for guiding fish through a body of water having a water flow includes one or more hydrofoil element oriented in the body of water to produce an asymmetric flow field that has a fast, low turbulent flow on one side of the element and a slow, high turbulent flow on the other side of the element. Positively rheotactic fish have a preference for one side versus the other and so are guided in a desired direction. Systems and method that utilize the apparatus can be used to guide fish away from infrastructure such as dams, locks, levees, flood weirs, and other diversion points.

The present disclosure is directed to monoclonal antibodies, or antigen-binding fragments thereof, that bind to coronavirus spike proteins, including the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. These antibodies demonstrate high affinity binding to epitopes on the coronavirus spike protein and/or broad cross-reactivity to the spike protein of various coronaviruses. Compositions comprising the anti-coronavirus antibodies, nucleic acids encoding for the antibodies, recombinant expression vectors, and host cells are also disclosed. The present disclosure is also directed to methods of diagnosing, preventing or treating coronavirus infections, including infections or disease caused by SARS-CoV-2.

A fired cartridge case collector includes a base having a collection post. The collection post of the base is configured to collect and suspend a fired cartridge case without causing contact to an exterior surface of the fired cartridge case. Various embodiments are described that relate to failure determination for an integrated circuit. An integrated circuit can be tested to determine if the integrated circuit is functioning properly. The integrated circuit can be subjected to a specific radiation such that the integrated circuit produces a response. This response can be compared against an expected response to determine if the response matches the expected response. If the response does not match the expected response, then the integrated circuit fails the test. If the response matches the expected response, then the integrated circuit passes the test.

A nucleic acid vaccine composition comprising one or more of a plasmid-based nucleic acid vaccine and immunotherapy, as well as a lipid formulation, is provided. In addition, the present invention provides a method of enhancing the potency of plasmid-based DNA vaccines and immunotherapies, by formulating a vaccine and/or immunotherapy in a lipid formulation, which is stable when refrigerated or stored frozen, is then delivered to a vaccinee by either needle/syringe, jet injection, or microneedles. The lipid formulation of the present invention comprises one or more lipid excipients selected from 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, Cholest-5-en-3β-ol, 1,2-Dimyristoyl-rac-glycero-3-methylpolyoxyethlene, and or more symmetric ionizable cationic lipids. The present invention increases vaccine potency dramatically. It was unexpectedly discovered that the level of immunogen, or immune response molecules, produced in vivo is increased (versus administering merely the vaccine or immunotherapy) and, in the case of a vaccine immunogen, the immune response is enhanced.

A remote weapon station (RWS) system for an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) includes a dedicated weapon, multi-axis gimbal and ammunition handling capabilities with all operations functioning remotely and wirelessly. The RWS system is a gas powered, or self-powered, belt fed, rotating bolt lock weapon. In addition, the RWS is man-portable and air-droppable as the major subsystems may be latched together in the field without tooling or needing to make electrical connections.

A communication system provides multimedia communications within and between armored ground combat vehicles (GCVs). The system includes client computers within the armored GCVs providing distributed and interconnected multimedia communications among the client computers. The multimedia communication may include a one-to-one communication, a text communication to a group, an audio communication to a group, or a video communication to a group. Logic providing the distributed and interconnected multimedia communications is not located at a single client computer. The client computers display graphical user interfaces (GUIs) enabling soldiers to select parameters of the communication system with some GUIs providing presence discovery among the armored GCVs. One of the plurality of client computers acts as an origination station and other client computers may be configured as receiving communication station(s). Abstract
A small lightweight weapon system for integration into an unmanned aerial vehicle comprises a weapon operating group which utilizes blowback operation to fire a full-powered centerfire rifle ammunition. An operating rod of the weapon operating group has an axis of translation offset from the longitudinal axis of the barrel thereby creating a moment couple on the system. A motor assembly controls the operation of the weapon operating group. Through a gear train, actuation of the motor assembly lifts a sear against a return torsion spring, which holds the operating group back when not firing. The gear train comprises a one way flywheel disconnect to increase the torque of the direct current motor and overcome the force of the torsion spring. Intelligent motor commutation and burst control are achieved through an encoder and software package.

Some embodiments use an area of maximum shadow line overlap, for shadow line images based on target location skyline azimuth and elevation angle data, as the best approximation for the position of the target location in an area. In some examples, a method for estimating the cetane number of a fuel includes receiving current engine operating condition measurements from a compression ignition (CI) engine using the fuel, and determining a value for a current engine performance indicator. The method further includes determining a projected engine performance indicator value for the CI engine based on the current estimated cetane number, current engine control signals and the current engine operating condition measurements. The method also includes determining that a difference between the value of the current engine performance indicator and the projected engine performance indicator value is greater than a threshold amount. If the difference is greater than the threshold amount, the method also includes determining a new estimated cetane number.

Abstract
This disclosure provides an assay and method for evaluating platelet function by measuring clot retraction in a grooved assay well using light transmittance in a low-volume, micro-plate formatted assay. The method takes advantage of the ability of platelets to draw the fibrin clot toward one side of the microplate well through an optical light path with readings recorded by a microplate reader. The method is rapid, tractable, has high precision, and yields time-series data that is quantitative. This allows clinicians and transfusion medicine practitioners to perform high throughput platelet function testing in patient samples and in blood/platelet products. Clot retraction serves as a functional biomarker to determine platelet function by performing the assay in a vessel that is scored to form a groove in which clot retraction occurs. Multiple samples can be tested simultaneously, and optionally an algorithm can be used to extract relevant parameters from the data.
