A silicone-based composition and a method of forming a fiber-reinforced composite is described that uses the silicone-based composition as a release agent. The method comprises providing a mold; coating the surface of the mold with one or more layers of a silicone-based composition; filling the mold with a resin and fiber reinforcement; allowing the resin and fiber reinforcement to at least partially cure to form a molded FRP composite; removing the molded FRP composite from the mold; and optionally, repeating the previous steps.
