Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a rotary plug valve and, more particularly, to a rotary plug valve having a fluid conduit cartridge including components that are assembled in a manner allowing for the rotation of a valve handle without rotation of the entire valve or supply line. Illustratively, a retainer ring and a backer ring are coupled with a gripper ring positioned therebetween. Coupling of the retainer ring and the backer ring creates compression on locking tabs of the grip ring, holding the locking tabs in place between tangs of the backer ring and preventing rotation of the gripper ring.

Abstract

Handle assemblies for coupling to a shaft are provided. Each assembly includes a handle having an end wall with a fastener passage extending therethrough and a side wall extending from the end wall to an open end. In one embodiment, an adapter assembly includes a nut, a collet having a fastener portion carrying the nut and a compression portion receiving the shaft, and a clamp mounted on the compression portion and tightened around the compression portion to compress the collet to the shaft. A fastener extends through the fastener passage and into the nut. In another embodiment, the handle defines a conical pocket in communication with the fastener passage. An adapter in the pocket includes circumferentially spaced jaws having conical outer surfaces and inner surfaces engaging the shaft and hinged connectors extending circumferentially between adjacent jaws. A fastener extends through the fastener passage and into the shaft.

Abstract

An assembly for limiting excess flow includes a housing having an internal bore that defines a seat. A cage is positioned within the internal bore and includes an upstream end and a sealing surface at a downstream end. A back plate with at least one magnet is seated within the internal bore upstream of the cage. The cage moves away from the back plate when a predetermined flow condition is exceeded such that the sealing surface engages the seat.

Abstract

An apparatus for assembling or disassembling a pipe in a pipe holder, includes: a washer having a body having an annular portion and an extended portion having central bore passing therethrough, the body made of a memory material; a compression fitting for insertion into the pipe holder, the extended portion fitting in the compression fitting; and, a lock for insertion into the pipe holder. The lock is for moving the compression fitting to deform the annular portion against the holder if inserted to form a seal between the pipe, the compression fitting and the holder. The lock also is for allowing the annular portion to reform and move against the holder if the lock is removed such that the compression fitting may be removed if the lock is removed.

Abstract

A method of processing a bismuth brass article includes the steps of machining an extruded brass rod to form an article of a desired shape and annealing the article at an annealing temperature that is no greater than 575° F./302° C. to relieve stress caused by the machining. The extruded brass rod includes a composition, by weight percentage, that includes 58-63 of copper, 0.8-1.5 of bismuth, 0.05-0.15 of phosphorous and a remainder of zinc and any impurities.

A plug valve assembly includes a valve carried in a valve body and including a spindle coupled to a plug. The spindle may have an appendage coupled to a sidewall of the plug, and circumferentially extending about a rotational axis less than 180 angular degrees, such that the spindle appendage is registrable with a valve body outlet to selectively reinforce the plug sidewall and thereby resist blowout of the plug sidewall into or through the valve body outlet. The spindle may be composed of nylon and the plug may be composed of liquid silicone rubber.
