A liquid-tight strain relief includes a tubular-shaped bushing and a dome-shaped gland. The bushing includes a flange with arcuate slots, a centrally-located aperture, a plurality of resilient outer fingers, and a shoe slideably received within a lateral groove of the bushing. The gland includes a head having a centrally-located membrane. The head is co-molded with and encapsulates the flange, resulting in a strain relief having a unitary construction. The strain relief is adapted to be inserted within an orifice of a work piece, and the outer fingers frictionally engage the work piece. A cable is inserted within the strain relief by puncturing the membrane, which then stretches and provides a seal against the cable. The cable is gripped to the strain relief when the shoe is pressed against the cable. The shoe is held against the cable by teeth on the shoe, which engage opposing locking ribs on the bushing.
A liquid-tight strain relief includes a tubular-shaped bushing and a dome-shaped gland. The bushing includes a flange, a centrally-located aperture, a plurality of resilient outer fingers, and a plurality of resilient inner fingers extending from an inner wall into the aperture. The gland includes a head having a centrally-located membrane. The head is co-molded with and encapsulates the flange, resulting in a strain relief having a unitary construction. The strain relief is adapted to be inserted within an orifice of a work piece, and the outer fingers frictionally engage the work piece. A cable is inserted within the strain relief by piercing the membrane, which stretches and provides a seal against the cable. The cable is inserted through the aperture of the bushing and the resilient inner fingers flex outwardly to enable the cable to pass through, while engaging and digging into the cable to clasp it and provide strain relief.
H02G 3/06 - Joints for connecting lengths of protective tubing to each other or to casings, e.g. to distribution boxEnsuring electrical continuity in the joint
A liquid-tight connector includes a threaded body, a finger/gland assembly within an annular pocket within the body, and a compression nut that engages a first threaded portion of the body. The finger/gland assembly includes a plurality of fingers attached to a sealing gland in an annular, collet-type fashion. The sealing gland and the fingers may be integral with one another. The sealing gland and the fingers may be co-molded with one another. Tightening the compression nut on the threaded body causes the compression nut to engage the fingers of the finger/gland assembly and bias the fingers toward each other. Such biasing causes the fingers to move inward and compress the sealing gland so that it forms a liquid-tight seal around the entire circumference of a cable within the body of the connector.

A cable holder including a frame having a plurality of resiliently flexible trays arranged in a column. A top surface of one of the plurality of trays and the bottom surface of another of the plurality of trays immediately positioned above it forms a pocket that is sized and shaped to receive at least one cable. Each of the trays includes at least one low rail extending from the top surface thereof, and the remainder of the trays includes at least one high rail extending from the bottom surface thereof. A clip is secured to the frame for attachment to a bracket. The trays are depressed to open the pocket, enabling insertion of one or more cables therein or removal therefrom. The resiliency of the trays along with the low rails and high rails deform the cables to form slight bends therein to prevent side-to-side movement or slippage of the cables.

An electrical connector system including first and second electrical connector members mated to one another to form a sealed connection in order to protect electrically-conductive components against the infiltration of moisture. The first connector member includes a socket with a first annular ridge at its tip, while a second annular ridge is formed within the socket at its base. An electrically-conductive pin is housed within the first connector member and extends into the interior of the socket. The second connector member includes a plug. An electrically-conductive socket, mated to the pin, is housed within the plug. When the plug of the second connector member is mated with the socket of the first connector member, the tip of the plug contacts the annular ridge at the base of the socket, which is deformed so as to form a water-tight seal between the tip of the plug and the base of the socket. Likewise, the annular ridge at the tip of the socket contacts the base of the recess and is deformed so as to form another water-tight seal between the tip of the socket and the base of the recess.
A junction box for a photovoltaic system includes a housing having a base and a cover removably attached thereto, and a plurality of guide channels extending from an exterior surface of the housing to an interior portion thereof. The guide channels are sized and shaped to receive a plurality of conductive foil strips from a solar panel array. When the strips are fed into the guide channels, they are guided to and properly positioned within corresponding receptacles. Each receptacle is sized and shaped to receive a buss bar, and each strip is connected to a corresponding buss bar by a low insertion connector. When the cover is fully engaged with the base, bosses extending from the cover press against the connectors, creating a spring tension and pinch and retain the associated strip. As a result, a reliable physical and electrical connection between the strips and the buss bars is achieved. A heat sink having a plurality of fins protrude outwardly from the housing to dissipate heat externally.
