Abstract

A system for performing color batch correction may include processors and computer-readable media having stored thereon executable instructions. In some examples, the executable instructions, if executed by the processors, cause the system to receive spectral data corresponding to a set of panels and convert the spectral for reach coated panel into a set of three-dimensional coordinates (e.g., lightness, red/green, and blue/yellow values). The system determines a change in each coordinate for each coated panel and analyze the change using a machine learning algorithm. The system receives data associated with a first coating and a target coating and determine one or more adjustments to make to the first coating to reduce a delta value between the coatings based on applying the machine learning algorithm. The system then outputs an indication of the one or more adjustments and a predicted reduction of the delta value.

Abstract

A system may receive, from a spectrophotometer. a color measurement of a first coating, wherein the color measurement corresponds with a first color curve. Additionally, the system may process, with a physics-informed machine learning algorithm, information derived from the first color curve, wherein a radiative transfer function acts as a regularization agent that limits a space of admissible solutions within the physics-informed machine learning algorithm. The system may also generate, from an output of the physics-informed machine learning algorithm, a set of one or more color components that, if mixed, correspond to the first color curve.

Abstract

A computer-implemented method for maintaining key compositional metrics, such as percent solids and/or pigment-to-binder ratio, in an e-coating bath can include receiving sensor data directly from an e-coat bath, wherein the sensor data correlates with changes in compositional metrics. One or more computer algorithms can process the data in real-time to quickly and accurately identify recommended adjustments to the e-coat bath.

Abstract

A computerized method of managing paint consumable product information is disclosed. The method includes, for a smart shelf having a sensor configured to weigh consumable products thereon, determining consumable product information of the smart shelf by receiving a first digital signal when a product is placed on the smart shelf. A consumable product information adjustment of the smart shelf is determined due to a second digital signal provided when the product is removed, or when periodic measurement of weight on the scale occurs. A weight of the product removed is determined upon receipt of a third digital signal and replacement of a container that had contained the previously removed product. The consumable product information and the consumable product information adjustment are sent to a remote server for tracking the consumable product information and consumable product information in a virtual cabinet at the server.

Abstract

A method of improving a radar transmission loss of a vehicle portion can include measuring an initial 1-way radar transmission loss through a portion of a vehicle section. The method can also include iteratively applying one or more primary radar correcting layers to the portion of the vehicle section, measuring an updated 1-way radar transmission loss through: (i) the portion of the vehicle section and (ii) the one or more applied primary radar correcting layers. and, if needed, iteratively applying one or more secondary radar correcting layers over the applied one or more primary radar correcting layers. The method can also include completing application of the secondary radar correcting layers when the final 1-way radar transmission loss through the portion of the vehicle section and the applied primary and secondary radar correcting layers provides a new value that is lower than the initial 1-way radar transmission loss.

Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to microporous membranes in the form of a sheet, comprising a polyolefin matrix and precipitated silica distributed throughout the matrix. The membrane comprises 55 to 80 percent by weight precipitated silica having a surface area greater than 9000 m2/100 grams membrane. The membrane demonstrates a Gurley porosity of 350 to 6000 seconds, and demonstrates a greater translucence when the membrane is wetted with a liquid having a refractive index from 1.400 to 1.550 than when the membrane is not wetted therewith. Also provided are devices comprising: a reservoir configured to contain the liquid and comprising a vertical surface visible to a user; and the microporous membrane described above making up at least a portion of the vertical surface visible to a user. One side of the membrane can contact the liquid and thus provides an indication of fluid level within the reservoir.

Abstract

A color display system for providing a virtual harmony evaluation between objects. A virtual harmony visualization may depict a digital representation of particular coatings applied to particular objects and may be based on selections made by a viewer. The particular coatings and particular objects may be defined by color data including attributes of a coating and spatial orientation data including attributes of a three-dimensional object. The digital representation of the virtual harmony visualization may also be based on attributes of a selected light source and/or predicted weathering which modifies the color data or the appearance of the coatings in the virtual harmony visualization.

Abstract

A dispensing system for dispensing a reactive coating reagent includes a frame (102), a reagent container (108) coupled to the frame, the reagent container having a first end and a second end, the reagent container storing a coating reagent within a non-reactive environment. The system also includes a first channel (114A) removably connected to the first end, the first channel for providing a non-reactive gas to the first end of the reagent container. In addition, the system includes a second channel (114B) removably connected to the second end, the second channel for dispensing the coating reagent to a receptacle. Furthermore, the system includes a pressure modulator 116 communicably attached to the first channel on one end and a pressure apparatus on another end, wherein variance in pressure through the pressure modulator changes delivery of gas through the first channel to cause a corresponding flow of coating reagent through the second channel.

Abstract

Techniques for comparing test coatings against a standard coating using a unique user interface having a particular visual layout designed to facilitate the comparison process. Generally, the user interface is specially tailored to facilitate a comparison and calibration process in which the test coating is analyzed to determine whether it aligns with a standard coating. A coating identification computer system receives digital measurements of coatings and displays renderings of those coatings. The system also displays a rendering of a standard coating. The system determines match statuses or calibration states between the coatings and the standard coating.

Abstract

A computer system for dynamically controlling printing parameters within a three-dimensional printer receives an indication for printing a target object by the three-dimensional printer. The computer system accesses a materials attribute dataset. The materials attribute dataset describes different material properties of a plurality of thermoset materials or mixtures thereof. Based upon the materials attribute dataset, for each of the plurality of extruders, the computer system selects one or more thermoset materials among the plurality of thermoset materials for each of the plurality of extruder to form an extrudate and determines an extrusion configuration for the selected one or more thermoset materials. The computer system then generates a command to cause the plurality of extruders of the thermoset three-dimensional printer to implement the extrusion configurations for the plurality of extruders while printing the target object.

Abstract

A (co)polymer(A)-acrylic block copolymer obtainable by reacting reactants comprising an acrylic material with a (co)polymer(A) is disclosed. The (co)polymer(A) comprises a substantially terminal ethylenically unsaturated functional group. The acrylic material is reacted with the (co)polymer(A) so that the acrylic material bonds to the (co)polymer(A) via the substantially terminal ethylenically unsaturated functional group. The disclosure extends to a coating composition comprising the block copolymer; articles, such as a package, packaging, a vehicle, a structure, or parts thereof coated with the coating composition; and methods of making the same.
