Abstract

Eyeglasses (10) include a pair of lenses, a pair of temple portions (13) flanking the lenses and a pair of arms (11), a hinge connecting each of the arms (11) to a respective one of the temple portions (13). Each hinge includes a recess (24) formed in the temple portion (13) and having a cam surface (17), and a spring member (15) attached to the arm (11) and extending into the recess (24) to pivotally connect the hinge block to the temple portion (13). The spring is movable to a release position whereat the arm (11) is detachable from the temple portion (13) and the spring member (15) bears against the cam surface (17) of the recess (24) to provide resistance against pivotal movement of the arm (11) with respect to the temple portion (13) between folded and extended positions.
