Abstract

The present invention is in the fields of skin care compositions. There is a need for an improved personal care composition for improving skin health by topical application. The present invention provides a personal care composition comprising a combination of conjugated fatty acid and hydroxy stearic acid in select ratio in a personal care composition. The composition enhances ceramide synthases (CerS) and sphingomyelinase, which thereon improves skin barrier properties by enhanced ceramide synthesis. The present invention further provides a non-therapeutic method for improving barrier properties of skin and a use of a combination of conjugated fatty acid and hydroxy stearic acid for improving barrier properties of skin.

Abstract

The present invention is in the fields of skin care compositions. Particularly, it relates to a skin care composition delivering antimicrobial benefit in 'eco-friendly' manner. There is a need for an improved skin care composition for providing antimicrobial benefit using environmentally sustainable ingredients. Surprisingly it has been found that a skin care composition comprising a gamma-keto carboxylic acid, or its salt or its ester along with select antimicrobial peptide (AMP) and/or their boosters enhances AMP secretion and/or its functionality, thereby providing enhanced antimicrobial benefit in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a process of preparing alkali metal carbonate, more particularly to alkali metal carbonate having lowered bulk density. It is desired to provide a low-density sodium carbonate which is also environmentally friendly and involves lower green-house gas emissions while maintaining desirable properties. It is desired to provide an alkali metal carbonate which has low bulk density and is obtained from natural source. The present inventors have found that when an aqueous solution of dense sodium carbonate is mixed with a crystal growth modifier selected from polyepoxysuccinic acid polymer and/or modified polyaspartic acid, the treated sodium carbonate surprisingly has a lowered bulk density and preferably has improved dispersibility, liquid carrying capacity and enhanced porosity.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a laminate, and in particular to laminate with good bond strength. There is a need for improved laminate structure, and a flexible package made therefrom which provides high performance during storage, transportation, handling, consumer use and which provides good shelf life and where the multilayer structure overcomes any shortcoming in the performance of the polymer incorporated in one or more layers of the multilayer structure. The present inventors have found that when a laminate structure has a sealant layer; a printable layer; and an adhesive layer therebetween; where a contact side of the sealant layer with the adhesive layer and a contact side of the printable layer with the adhesive layer are both smooth and have an average surface roughness (Ra) of less than 40 nanometers it provides the laminate structure with improved bond strength, improved mechanical properties and improved overall performance.

Abstract

The invention is directed to a biphasic wash composition. The composition is substantially free of sulfate-based surfactants. The surfactants used include a nonionic surfactant having an HLB from 6 to 16, anionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant. The biphasic wash composition with agitation yields a transient emulsion which is a wash composition that delivers lather and moisturization benefits even when comprising at least 30% by weight oil.

Abstract

The present invention relates to hair care compositions for conditioning hair, in particular hair care compositions providing conditioning to hair without the use of silicones. Despite the apparent effects in making hair look full and shiny, conditioning formulations that contain silicone-based conditioning agents raise concerns among consumers. There remains a need to provide compositions which can provide superior conditioning performance in a sustainable manner. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a hair conditioning composition that provides superior conditioning performance. It has been found that the conditioning performance of a hair conditioning composition can be improved when a blend of a polyalkadiene polymer and a conditioning oil such as mineral oils, vegetable oils etc is included in a composition.
