The first ring-shaped body extends axially away from the first axial surface of the tube-shaped in a first axial direction. The second ring-shaped body extends axially away from a second axial surface of the tube-shaped body in a second axial direction that is opposite the first axial direction. The third ring-shaped body extends axially away from the second axial surface of the tube-shaped body in the second axial direction that is opposite the first axial direction. Each of the first ring-shaped body, the second ring-shaped body and the third ring-shaped body are defined by an inner radial surface, an outer radial surface and an axial surface that connects the inner radial surface to the outer radial surface. One or both of the first axial surface of the tube-shaped body and the inner radial surface of the first ring-shaped body is disposed adjacent the ring of memory material. The second axial surface of the tube- shaped body, the inner radial surface of the second ring-shaped body and the outer radial surface of the third ring-shaped body collectively define a ring-shaped filter media receiving channel. Abstract

A method for manufacturing a filter includes providing a body of filter media within a mold tool cavity. The filter media body is defined by a wrapped sheet of material comprising a plurality of wrappings. The method also includes defining the mold tool cavity to include a surface having a protrusion extending from the surface. The method further includes providing a seal material upon one or more of an axial end surface of the filter media and the surface of the mold tool cavity to form a seal upon the axial end surface of the filter media. The method also includes utilizing the protrusion extending from the surface of the mold tool cavity as a dam for forcing the seal material between the wrappings of the filter media to define fingers extending from the seal.

Abstract

A pleated fluid filter element for removing particulate matter from a fluid stream that comprises a pleated filter media provided with a plurality of pleats having peaks and valleys and having a clean and dirty side. The pleated filter media further has arrays of elongated embossments projecting from both the clean and dirty sides thereof. The arrays of the elongated embossments are positioned so that the elongated embossments embossed on adjacent pleats of the filter media are offset from each other in a direction parallel to the peaks and valleys. The elongated embossments are provided for maintaining gaps between the pleats and spaces within the pleats and for channeling fluid into and out of the filter media.

Abstract

A filter media including a first sheet having an inner surface and an outer surface, a second sheet having an inner surface and an outer surface, wherein the inner surface of the first sheet and the inner surface of the second sheet at least in part define at least two fluid channels between the first sheet and the second sheet to define a filter media having a first axial end and a second axial end, wherein the at least two fluid channels extend between the first axial end and the second axial end, and wherein, interior to said axial ends, the first and second sheets define at least one opening between a first one of said at least two fluid channels and a second one of said at least two fluid channels such that fluid can uninterruptedly flow between the first one of said at least two fluid channels and the second one of the at least two fluid channels, and further wherein the at least two fluid channels and the at least one opening are at least defined in part by a surface characteristic of the first sheet and a surface characteristic of the second sheet.

Abstract

A high-pressure spin-on filter assembly is provided that utilizes a two-piece cover assembly to hold or sandwich the housing in place once the housing is folded over the inner cover member. This design allows for the outer cover member to be interchanged to fit multiple applications while making little or no change to the other components. Suitable gaskets are provided between the housing and two-piece cover assembly and the filter and cover assembly. The outer cover member may be changed to accommodate thread changes or gasket location changes.

Abstract

A component of a replaceable filter element for a filter housing having a standpipe with an axial surface portion defining key sockets. The component of a replaceable filter element comprising a first segment, a second segment extending from the first segment, an intermediate segment defining a load-bearing shoulder surface that joins the first segment to the second segment, and an inner surface, The inner surface includes a first surface portion and a second surface portion. The first and second surface portions are demarcated by a shoulder portion that projects radially inwardly toward the central axis,. The shoulder portion is defined by a shoulder surface. The shoulder surface defines the standpipe actuator.
