Abstract

The device comprises an input compartment for inputting notes of value, a pull-off and separating unit for separating the notes of value present in the input compartment, a value note identification unit for identifying the separated notes of value as well as an intermediate storage unit for intermediately storing the identified notes of value. The device comprises a first cash box (12a to 12d) for storing notes of value (13) and a second cash box (12e) for storing notes of value (40). A transport unit (19, 24) serves for the transport of notes of value between the mentioned units and cash boxes. A control unit (28) assigns one of the at least two cash boxes (12a to 12e) as a target cash box (12a to 12e) to each identified note of value and determines whether the filling level of the second cash box (12e) has reached or exceeded a value stored in a preset manner. The control unit (28) controls the transport unit (19, 24) such that the intermediately stored notes of value (13, 40) that are to be stored in the first cash box (12a to 12d) are removed from the intermediate storage unit (30), are fed to the first cash box (12a to 12d) and are stored therein. The control unit (28) further determines a remaining capacity of the second cash box (12e) in that the control unit (28) deducts the number of notes of value (40) that are altogether stored in the second cash box (12e), after the filling level of the second cash box (12e) has reached the predetermined value, from an initial remaining capacity stored in a preset manner, and determines a remaining capacity of the second cash box (12e). The control unit (28) controls the transport unit (19, 24) when the number of intermediately stored notes of value (40) that are to be stored in the second cash box (12e) does not exceed the remaining capacity such that the notes of value (40) that are to be stored in the second cash box (12e) are removed from the intermediate storage unit (30), are fed to the second cash box (12e) and stored therein.

Abstract

The simple gesture control of the user interface can be used by visually impaired or blind people in order to enter telephone numbers or account numbers for example. The user interface and the method constitute a shift from the current paradigm of guiding a user on touchscreens, which has precisely the advantage of the hand-eye coordination allowed by the touchscreen, wherein a user touches the exact location on the touchscreen where a corresponding selection surface is visualized. Instead, a swiping gesture is supported which can be carried out in any region on the touch-sensitive surface and shifts the focus from one selection surface or virtual button to the next. The swiping gesture can be carried out not just in the horizontal and vertical direction but also in a diagonal direction. Diagonal swiping gestures allow a particularly quick selection of the corresponding virtual buttons. Because multiple swiping gestures can be carried out one after the other, the selection of the virtual button can be modified as often as desired. This has the advantage that a user can first explore the user interface before actually entering a character or activating a function. Each selected virtual button is read to the user by means of a screenreader functionality. The method can be implemented on conventional existing hardware, and the user interface is designed in accordance with reliable and user-centered policies.

Abstract

The invention relates to a simple gesture control system that permits accurate, simple, and secure input of personal identification numbers (PIN) by visually impaired or blind persons at a payment terminal or automatic teller machine. By means of the user interface, invisible keys can be selected by means of simple wiping gestures. Here, any necessity for visual or spoken feedback or localization of operating elements is rendered unnecessary. As a result, blind or visually impaired users can input a secret number by means of touch operation automatically and without outside help. In this way, account is also taken of the statutory requirements in different countries. According to one embodiment of the invention, the selection of the invisible key is separated from the actuation thereof in that, in order to actuate the selected invisible key, an individual touch input, here a typing gesture, is required. This has the advantage that the user can explore the user interface first before he carries out an actual symbol input. The method can be implemented on conventional, already existing hardware. The user interface has been conceived in accordance with reliable and user-centric guidelines.

Abstract

For self-service terminals, such as e.g. cash machines, identification data in the form of a PIN are usually entered on the keyboard of the cash machine. Said keyboards have encryption mechanisms, are produced as EPPs (Encrypting ΡIΝ Pads) and are very expensive. When a PIN is entered, being watched cannot be ruled out. In order to solve these problems, a method and a system for authenticating and carrying out a transaction at a self-service terminal, particularly a cash machine (ATM), is specified, wherein the system comprises the following system components: a first computer-supported unit (PINSRV), which forms a second data set containing second elements (A, B, C,... J) for a first data set containing first elements (0, 1, 2, 3,... 9) from which identification data (PIN) are formed, each of which second elements is allocated, on a one-to-one basis, to one of the first elements; a screen (DISP) which is structurally connected to the self-service terminal (ATM) and displays the one-to-one allocation of the second elements to the first elements; a user terminal (MD) which is structurally separate from the self-service terminal (ATM), is allocated to a user (CSM) and displays the second elements (A, B, C,... J) and not the first elements (0, 1, 2, 3,... 9), in order to enable the user to enter the input data (#PIN) on the user terminal (MD); wherein an application program (MBA) implemented on the user terminal transmits the input data (#PIN) to a second computer-supported unit (SRV) which carries out the authentication of the transaction, and wherein the first computer-supported unit (PINSRV) manages the one-to-one allocation of the second elements (A, B, C,... Abstract

The aim of the invention is a method for monitoring transport processes of banknotes in a self-service terminal, said method ensuring a reliable control of the transport processes even for banknotes which have windows. This is achieved in that each transported banknote (BN) is guided lengthwise through a light barrier, said light barrier having a light-sensitive sensor (S) in order to detect at least one edge of the banknote (BN). In order to prevent the detection of windows (W) and to detect the rear edge (HK) of the banknote (BN), the signal (SO) generated by the sensor (S) is debounced, the debouncing time (dT) being set to a first period of time (dT1) dependent on the length of the banknote (BN), wherein the period of time corresponds to the expected length of the banknote (BN) and can last 60 ms for example. The debouncing time (dT) is set to the first period of time (dT1) as soon as the signal (SO) generated by the sensor (S) indicates the first appearance of an edge of the banknote (BN), in particular the front edge (VK). After the first period of time (dT1) expires, the debouncing time can be set to a second substantially shorter period of time (dT2) of 1 ms for example. The rear edge (HK) of the banknote is thus reliably detected and indicated.
