Abstract

A method and a balancing circuit (10) for balancing an ungrounded direct-voltage power supply system (2) are disclosed. In a detector circuit (12), a faulty active conductor (L-) is detected in which a largest leakage current to ground (PE) flows because of a lowest insulation resistance (Rf-). The faulty active conductor (L-) is coupled to the balancing circuit (10) by means of a switching device (14), the largest leakage current being compensated by means of an open-loop and closed-loop control device (16) of the balancing circuit (10) without reducing the insulation resistance (Rf+) of the other active conductor (L+). Furthermore, an enhanced insulation monitoring device (30) is provided for monitoring an ungrounded direct-voltage power supply system having a balancing circuit (10).

Abstract

Methods and devices for minimizing a possibly corroding DC protective-conductor current for a DC system grounded via a protective conductor designed as a foundation ground electrode with connected SK 1-operating equipment. Balancing includes feeding a balancing current to a casing of the class I operating equipment at a ground terminal via an output circuit between a fault-free active conductor and ground terminal, a balancing-current polarity and amplitude set such that the DC protective-conductor current is minimized in the foundation ground electrode. In contrast to DC balancing, DC compensation means a compensating current is fed to the casing at the ground terminal of the class I operating equipment via an output current between the faulty active conductor and the ground terminal. Regarding the polarity and the amplitude, the compensating current is such that the DC protective-conductor current is minimized in the foundation ground terminal. The balancing current and the compensating current are set via switching of power sources, resistors or a PWM signal.

Abstract

A method and devices for testing and monitoring the continuity of a PEN conductor for a three-phase TN-C-S power supply system to which operating equipment is connected via a single or three phases. As intended by the invention, a voltage is measured for this purpose at a virtual star point set up according to the invention at operating equipment using three-phase machine terminals, and the measured star-point voltage is evaluated. Should the star-point voltage exceed a critical voltage, the operating equipment is disconnected. The invention therefore does not require a constructively difficult installation of a local reference ground. For operating equipment with single-phase machine terminals, a load voltage is measured in a first and a second load case along with a computation of a loop impedance from the voltage change and a residual-current change. The thus determined loop impedance value allows drawing a conclusion on whether a functional PEN conductor is present.

Abstract

Methods are provided for accelerating the insulation resistance measuring for determining an insulation resistance according to a pulse measuring method in an ungrounded power supply system. After indicating a target charging state of the network capacities available, a target point in time is calculated at which the network capacities have reached the target charging state. A first wait time is calculated from the current point in time as the difference between the target charging state and the current point. Alternatively, a target charging rate reflects a sufficiently stationary charging state of the capacitors, valid for measuring the insulation resistance. The target charging rate corresponds to the derivative of the first order of the target charging voltage and thus linked to the target point in time. Using the derivatives of the first order, a time difference is calculated as a second wait time.

Abstract

A measuring arrangement and method are for measuring a loop impedance of a residual current loop of an active and protective conductor in an ungrounded power supply system. A device connected to a consumer point measures a conductor-to-ground voltage and computes loop impedance. An insulation monitoring device determines the insulation resistance in the system via a grounding device between the active and protective conductors on the feeding side. This grounding device selectively overrides one of the active conductors according to the control information of the measuring device via the communication channel and forms a residual current loop with impedance measured by interacting with the extended measuring device on the consumer side. Control information generated by the measuring device is telecommunicated to the grounding device. An insulation monitoring device equipped therewith may conduct a measurement of the loop impedance in the ungrounded power supply system in addition to insulation monitoring.

Abstract

A method and an insulation monitoring device for insulation monitoring with network balancing in an ungrounded direct voltage system involves a measurement of conductor-to-ground voltages by means of voltage measuring devices; a computation of insulation resistances specifically for a conductor; and a compensation of an asymmetrical voltage between the conductor-to-ground voltages by means of a control circuit. A combination of an insulation monitoring function and network balancing based on a digital control circuit with the degree of asymmetry (asymmetrical factor) as control variable is provided. The asymmetrical voltage is compensated permanently via a suitable assessment of a (voltage) control error by means of a controller, and the resistance setting value required therefor is detected as a manipulated variable for one of the variable resistances.

Abstract

A method and an electrical circuit arrangement is for determining an insulation resistance of an ungrounded power supply system, which feeds electrical energy to the water-electrolysis installation. The fundamental idea of the method is based on predicting the insulation resistance of the ungrounded power supply system during an initial booting of the water-electrolysis installation and thus keeping the delay caused by the demineralization process as short as possible until the electrolysis process for subsequent booting processes of the electrolysis installation has been actually cleared. In a variation of the method, the electric conductance value and the temperature of the process water are additionally provided and recorded depending on the specific installation by the demineralization installation during the demineralization process. The result is a cost-efficient monitoring approach with a simple option for retrofitting for determining the insulation resistance of the ungrounded power supply system for the supply of water-electrolysis installations.

Abstract

A method and an electric circuit arrangement for determining a branch insulation resistance and a branch leakage capacitance of a line branch to be monitored in a branched, ungrounded power supply system having active conductors and a measuring voltage fed centrally by a controllable measuring voltage source and a residual current caused by the measuring voltage being registered using a current sensor in the line branch to be monitored. The centrally supplied measuring voltage is formed over a generator period having a characteristic signal form defined via the frequency composition. By this (frequency) modulation of the measuring voltage, information is transmitted from the central feed location of the measuring voltage to the current sensor disposed in the line branch to be monitored. Based on this information, the current sensor can establish with which resistance value the coupling circuit feeds the measuring voltage in the corresponding generator period, without another communication channel being required.

Abstract

A method and monitoring device for selectively determining partial insulation resistance and partial system leakage capacitance of an outgoing line in a branched ungrounded power supply system monitored using an insulation monitoring device actively superposing a measuring alternating voltage on the ungrounded power supply system. Using an equivalent circuit diagram of the branched ungrounded power supply system as a basis, the partial insulation resistance having the current/voltage ratios applicable in linear systems are derived from the known measuring voltage and the inner resistance of the insulation monitoring device and from the total insulation resistance and the stationary partial current measured in the corresponding outgoing line and in the settled state. To calculate the partial system leakage capacitance, the temporal derivative of the measured non-stationary conductor-to-ground voltage is evaluated in conjunction with the non-stationary partial current and the previously determined partial insulation resistance.

Abstract

Methods and electric circuit arrangements for protecting metallic components in an electrolytic medium from corrosion due to direct-current (DC) stray current (Is) from a power supply system. The DC stray current may be jointly registered as a total sum current across all active conductors together with the protective conductor of the power supply system by a DC total differential-current sensor. Alternatively, a combined DC differential-current sensor is switchable by a switching device, a differential current being registered across all active conductors or the DC stray current being registered as a total differential current across all active conductors and the protective conductor. Alternatively, a differential current may be registered across all active conductors by a DC current sensor at the protective conductor and the DC stray current computed by forming differences of the differential current registered by the differential-current transformer and of the protective conductor registered by the DC current sensor.

Abstract

A method and a measuring device for detecting a leakage current in an ungrounded, single-phase alternating-current power supply system. A variable test resistance is switched between one of the outer conductors and ground and starting from a minimally admissible test-resistance value, at least one of three support test-resistance values is determined as support locations. In an equivalent circuit of the modeled alternating-current power supply system, an equations system is set up for describing the dependency of currents and voltages. An extrapolation on the test-resistance value zero leads to a calculated test current which corresponds to the leakage current to be detected. Consequently, a ground fault situation may be simulated without actually causing a dangerous ground fault.

Abstract

A method is for monitoring a ground resistance of an electric installation which consists of an ungrounded stationary alternating-voltage power supply system having at least one active conductor and of a consumer connected to the stationary alternating-voltage power supply system via a supply line. For this method, the already available active conductors of the stationary alternating-voltage power supply system and the leakage capacity of the leakage capacitor installed in the consumer are used to complete a measuring-current circuit for monitoring the ground resistance, a measuring signal being capacitively coupled between the active conductor and ground via a coupling circuit. Measuring currents and measuring voltages are measured when the consumer is switched on and off, a complex-valued load-side impedance, which has the ground resistance to be monitored in its real part, being detected from these measurements.

Abstract

A remote drive with a support element for a top-hat-rail mounting. Opposing actuators disposed on the support element alternatingly act on a displaceably mounted slider by rod-shaped anchors. A slider passage receives a first lever arm of a rocker lever pivotable about a rotational axis parallel to the top hat rail length and nearly passes through a rotational point of a shift lever of a switching device. A carrier rail on a second lever arm is parallel to the top hat rail length, the shift lever engaging the carrier rail to the side of the second lever arm. When the slider is displaced, the rocker lever flips simultaneously activate the shift lever. In a remote drive assembly, two remote drives are disposed adjacent to one another on a top hat rail with a locking mechanism. Alternatively, individually controlled actuators act on first and second legs of a T-shaped rocker switch.

Abstract

A method and a circuit arrangement for unlocking a charging plug in an emergency designed for a charging station for charging an electric energy storage of an electric vehicle, having a locking mechanism activated by an electric-motor drive unit. An emergency unlocking controller is a self-sufficient functional block in conjunction with a step-up converter for supplying the electric-motor drive unit with power, the input voltage of the step-up converter stepped up to the nominal voltage of the electric motor. A microcontroller controls and monitors the electric-motor drive unit and the step-up converter and for communicating with a superordinate locking controller generally disposed in the charging station. The step-up converter allows nearly the entire electric energy stored in the storage capacitor connected upstream of the step-up converter to be supplied to the electric-motor drive unit, whereby the motor can be operated at its required nominal voltage.

Abstract

An electric circuit device and method is for recognizing a closed switch contact as well as a protective ground conductor interruption in a one- or multiphase electric supply line. A control of a residual current monitoring device (RCMB control) includes one fault current control unit for generating a control signal pattern including a series of switching-on impulses forwarded to a first electronic switch unit to activate a possible artificial passive fault current on one or more active conductors and the protective ground conductor (as a return conductor), this fault current actually flowing, being recognized, and evaluated in a closed circuit in a closed switch contact to be tested and an intact protective conductor. Owing to control signal patterns varying during monitoring, a reliable detection of the artificial passive fault current is ensured even in large dynamic disturbance levels while the electric installation (supply line) to be monitored is in operation.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for determining an insulation resistance and for locating insulation faults in a power supply system whose active parts are ungrounded and which is supplied via a converter operated grounded and equipped with controlled power semiconductor switches. A common-mode voltage against ground is generated at the output of the converter and is superimposed on the ungrounded network as an active measuring voltage in order to measure the insulation resistance. The direct integration of the generation of the common-mode measuring voltage in the converter allows cost-effective implementation including similarly comprehensive insulation monitoring functions as those possible in fully ungrounded power supply systems. Furthermore, the method for determining the insulation resistance can be expanded into a method for locating insulation faults and thus for locating faulty system branches.

Abstract

Methods and devices are provided for testing the function of a standard insulation monitoring device, installed in an ungrounded power supply system, during operation. The basic concept of the invention rests upon adding a testing apparatus to the ungrounded power supply system, which is being monitored using an insulation monitoring device according to regulations, between the active conductors of an ungrounded power supply system and ground, said testing apparatus systematically changing an insulation resistance of the ungrounded power supply system and observing the reaction of the insulation monitoring device in a fully automated manner in perpetually repetitive testing cycles. The power supply system is monitored perpetually during its operation. In the method, the current operating state (insulation level, load state) of the power supply system is detected via network parameters, such as insulation resistance and system leakage capacity, and consulted for assessing the functionality of the insulation monitoring device.

Abstract

A method and device for determining a division of a total insulation resistance and of a total system leakage capacitance in an ungrounded power supply system. The basic idea is to determine how the total insulation resistance is divided into partial insulation resistances and how the total system leakage capacitance is divided into partial system leakage capacitances between the active conductors of the ungrounded power supply system from displacement voltages measured between each of the active conductors of the ungrounded power supply system based on values determined in advance for the total insulation resistance and for the total system leakage capacitance of the ungrounded power supply system. By evaluating the displacement voltages in terms of their changes in amplitude, their frequency and their phasing, conclusions can be drawn as to the division of the total insulation resistance and of the total system leakage capacitance between the individual active conductors.

Abstract

The invention relates to a device and a method for insulation monitoring including identification of a faulty outer conductor in a three-phase ungrounded power supply system. The fundamental idea of the present invention rests upon determining the phase angle between the measured mains voltage and the measured neutral-point voltage when presuming only one measurement of the mains voltage to ground at one of the outer conductors and one measurement of the neutral-point voltage to ground. The value of the thus determined phase angle is in one of three angle ranges which each extend over 120 degrees and are to be assigned to one of the three outer conductors so that the faulty outer conductor is determined. The faulty outer conductor is thus detected by measuring only one mains voltage in conjunction with the measurement of the neutral-point voltage by evaluating the phase between the two measured voltage.

Abstract

A method and a monitoring device for selectively determining a partial system leakage capacitance in an ungrounded power supply system having a main system and at least one partial system. An extended insulation monitoring system is configured for determining an overall system leakage capacitance of the power supply system; an extended insulation fault location system for determining an ohmic and a capacitive partial test-current portion of a partial test current captured in the respective partial system; and an impedance evaluation system for determining a partial insulation resistance and a partial system leakage capacitance for each partial system to be monitored are provided. For preventing the entire ungrounded power supply system from being switched off, the fundamental idea of the present invention is advantageously based on identifying in which partial system a critical increase of a partial system leakage capacitance has taken place.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method, electrical circuit arrangements and insulation monitoring devices for an interference-resistant insulation monitoring of an ungrounded power supply system having a converter. Switching-frequent interfering signals, which are caused by operating the converter, are identified and assessed in a measured displacement voltage independently of the detection of a measuring signal in order to derive a switching (off) signal if required. Complementary thereto, an interfering resistance with respect to low-frequency interfering portions generated by the converter is attained by these low-frequency interfering portions being generated from a replica of a pulse width modulation signal of the converter and being suppressed sufficiently via subtraction that a monitoring without gaps (frequency) of the insulation resistance becomes possible.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for insulation fault location as well as to an insulation fault location system for an ungrounded power supply system. The main idea of the present invention rests upon the idea that while preserving a predetermined maximally admissible test current amplitude, a test current pulse duration of a test current is adaptively set such that all interfering values are eliminated in a captured differential current, in particular the leakage currents arising in consequence of large supply leakage capacitances. Should a test of the value of the final value of the differential current reveal that a test current threshold value has been exceeded, this exceedance can be seen as an indicator that the respective conductor section is therefore in the fault circuit.

Abstract

The invention relates to insulation fault location systems and methods for insulation fault location for an ungrounded DC power supply system, which is redundantly fed from a first direct voltage supply source coupled to diodes and a second direct voltage supply source coupled to diodes and to which a consumer is redundantly coupled. Due to the diode coupling and the asymmetric current splitting of the load current associated therewith, non-compensational partial currents arise in the supply lines in such a power supply system and consequently differential current portions, which can be captured by measuring current transformers and which can interfere with a valid test current during an insulation fault location. In order to eliminate the interfering differential current portions, compensating measures on the primary side are proposed in the measuring current transformers and indirect compensating measures on the secondary side are proposed in an insulation fault location apparatus.

Abstract

Methods and locating systems are for determining an insulation fault location on an electric conductor of a subsea supply line. By applying electric voltage on the electric conductor, an electrochemical reaction takes place at an insulation fault location between the metallic conductor material and the seawater, the electrochemical reaction forming gas, which in turn is connected to developing noise. Sonic sensors capture the sonic waves produced inside and outside the subsea supply line and evaluate the measuring signals in order to determine the insulation fault location. Alternatively or additionally to capturing noise, the gas-bubble image patterns occurring at the insulation fault location are optically captured and consulted in order to determine the insulation fault location.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for identifying arc faults in an ungrounded power supply system. This object is attained by detecting a displacement voltage to ground at an active conductor or at a neutral point of the ungrounded power supply system; by providing a value of an operating frequency occurring in the power supply system; and by analyzing a frequency spectrum of the detected displacement voltage by calculating and assessing Fourier coefficients at the locations of the operating frequency and its harmonics. Due to the broadband detection of the displacement voltage interacting with the “quick” generation of the basic functions by means of a DDS generator, arc faults can be identified reliably in an ungrounded power supply system.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and to an electrical protection device for detecting a disconnection of a protective conductor connection with a subsystem in ungrounded and grounded power supply systems and in a grounded power supply system comprising a converter system. The invention is based on the idea that the disconnection of the protective conductor connection with a subsystem will reduce the sum of the network leakage capacitances of the power supply system by the value of the network leakage capacitance of the subsystem. The necessary distinction between a subsystem in operation having a disconnected protective conductor connection and a shut-off subsystem is made by evaluating the current total power consumed via the power supply system. In the case of a converter system connected to the subsystem, the protective conductor disconnection is detected by examining the leakage current spectra that are characteristic of the converter system.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and to a device for shutting down an installation part provided with connected equipment in an ungrounded power supply system in case of an insulation fault in a direct-current circuit connected to the installation part to be shut down. The invention is based on first determining the insulation resistance of the IT power supply system and measuring the displacement direct voltage present in the IT power supply system and then determining by combined evaluation of the measured results if there is a risk of an disruptive influence on the operating behavior of the connected equipment due to the displacement direct voltage occurring during the duration of a predeterminable time interval. If a disruptive influence is to be expected, the installation part exhibiting the insulation fault is immediately shut down together with the direct-current circuit and the equipment connected thereto.

Abstract

A device and method is for insulation monitoring in a power supply system composed of a main system including a neutral point that is high-resistance grounded via a neutral-point resistance and, optionally, of at least one subsystem, wherein the main system and the subsystem each have a differential current measuring device for registering a differential current. The invention is based on feeding a measuring signal into the optionally branched HRG system via an active measuring method and registering the fault current driven by the measuring signal in the outgoing power feeds to be monitored by means of a differential current measurement and using the registered fault current in an evaluating device to determine the total insulation resistance of the power supply system and to determine the partial insulation resistances of the main system and potentially present subsystems. Furthermore, the insulation monitoring device can be employed for insulation fault location.
