The sleep staging platform disclosed herein enables accurate sleep stage classification by combining actigraphy data with heart rate data. The platform may use a multi-model approach that includes a first machine learning model to evaluate sleep stages using heart rate patterns from polysomnography datasets related to a wearable device. The platform may combine the outputs of the heart rate-based model with actigraphy features into a second model to further evaluate sleep stages. The platform may segment events based on timestamps to detect sleep stages and calculate clinically relevant sleep metrics such as total sleep time and wake after sleep onset. By using a multi-model approach, the platform reduces feature dimensionality, enabling practical training with small polysomnography datasets related to wearable devices. The combination of heart rate patterns and actigraphy features may enhance sleep staging accuracy, particularly when heart rate data is derived from motion-sensitive polysomnography signals.

Approaches to verifying the identity of speakers through objective, algorithmic characterizations of voice features and systems for implementing the same
Introduced here are approaches to dynamically verifying the identity of an individual and assessing the health of the individual through objective, algorithmic characterizations of voice features derived from audio recordings created by the individual. These voice features may be paralinguistic features, non-linguistic features, or linguistic features. By characterizing these voice features, insights can be gleaned into how events represented in the audio recordings should be emotionally characterized. For example, for each audio recording created by the individual, a health management platform may calculate a valence measure that is based on the voice features established for that audio recording. These valence measures can be documented, for example, in a profile maintained for the individual, such that changes in health can be detected in a more reliable, quantitative manner.
