Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a system and method for detecting an address block and barcode on a captured image of an item, and reading the detected barcode using connected component analysis. In one aspect, the method includes binarizing a captured image to generate a binarized image having pixel values, inverting the pixel values of the binarized image, processing the inverted pixel values, and filtering the processed image by area. The method may also include machine learning the processed image to cluster objects in the processed image into a plurality of groups using the filtered image, and determining a number of objects in each of the clustered groups by performing additional operations on the clustered objects to detect the address block. The method may also include selecting the group having the greatest number of objects as the address block, and extracting the selected address block.

Abstract

A method, a computing device, and a computer program product are provided. An interceptor hub application receives, via a network, a request for multiple services from a first service-consuming application. The request is in a format for an interceptor interface. The interceptor hub application converts at least some information in the received request to a format of a corresponding interface of at least one of the requested services. The interceptor hub application sends a respective request to each of the requested services. The each respective request includes a corresponding portion of the information in the format of the corresponding service-oriented interface. A respective service response from the each of the respective services is received by the interceptor hub application, which provides each of the respective responses in a combined service response to the first service-consuming application in a format expected by the first service-consuming application.

The present disclosure relates to a system and method for improving scan rates of an item in a distribution network. The system may include an item scan database storing item scan datasets containing barcodes, item datasets and optical character recognition (OCR) labels datasets and a processor in data communication with the item scan database. A lock can include attack-resistant and/or weather-resistant features. Attack-resistant features can include a sacrificial link between a locking mechanism and an external keyway covering an exterior face of the locking mechanism. Abstract

A system and method for enhancing digitally informed delivery of delivery items such as mail. The sender of a delivery item creates custom electronic text, files, images, web pages, or other electronic/digital resource(s) to provide to the recipient. A postage meter, a server of the delivery service, or the like creates a digital indicia that includes the digital resource, associating it with the delivery item. When the delivery item is processed by the delivery service equipment during transit, the digital indicia is read and the associated digital resource is are identified therefrom. A vote by mail system that also cryptographically tracks and secures votes is described herein. In some embodiments, the mail system cryptographically tracks and secures votes through the use of a block chain like those used in cryptographic currencies. In some embodiments, the block chain is used to record some data regarding the mailed in votes in order to demonstrate the accuracy of the election. In some embodiments, they system also allows voters to vote using scanned versions of ballots received by mail. Further, in some embodiments, the system coordinates the mailing of absentee ballots that can then be used with the system.

Abstract

A multi-dimensional measuring system is disclosed. The measuring system includes a dimensional measuring device that fits over an exterior portion of an item and provides reference measurements in three orthogonal directions. Embodiments of a system and method for sorting and sequencing articles in a processing facility are disclosed. Delivery endpoints are divided and grouped into stop groups.
