A system for operating a distribution network includes a scanner configured to scan a computer readable delivery code on a plurality of items in the distribution network to generate scan data. The code includes a sender identifier associated with the sender of the item on which the code is located. The code further includes delivery information for the plurality of items. A data repository in communication with the scanner and stores the delivery information. A processor in communication with the data repository categorizes the scanned plurality of items into a plurality of categories based on the sender information. An interface is configured to receive a user request for the delivery information for items categorized into a specified category selected from the plurality of categories and communicates the request for delivery information to the processor, which generates and sends a plurality of computer readable codes to the user.
A system and method of verifying the identity of a user or registrant. The user or registrant provides identification information and registration information. The identification information may be a visual representation of an identifying item associated with location information. In some embodiments, the identification information may be a visual representation of a government issued identity. An identification module verifies the identification information and compares the verified identification information to the registration information.
A system and method for generating a return label for merchandise being returned from a buyer or consumer in a first country to a merchant in a second country. A name and address of a consumer in the first country desiring to return merchandise and merchant or seller information including a merchant identifier is received. The service provider may load an international mailpiece into an airplane, if a domestic customs service allow the international mailpiece having a matching unique identifier to leave the originating country. A service provider may return an international mailpiece to the domestic customs service if an international mailpiece is not allowed to leave the originating country.
Methods and systems are provided for tracking the nesting of delivery items can include using a passive RFID-type or an auto-detection type communication device to determine which mail handler picks up a particular tray from a location, such as the end of a conveyor system. When the mail handler places the tray in a container, another RFID-type device can be used to detect into which container the mail handler placed the tray. This information may then be passively and/or wirelessly transmitted to an application server that may store the information in a database to verify and validate, in real time, that the tray was placed into the correct container. These methods and systems are equally applicable to other nesting environments, including for example, the placing of containers into transportation vehicles.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR USER REQUESTED MAIL DELIVERY SERVICES
Methods and systems are provided for handling customer requests regarding delivery services (Figure 2, 20). These methods and systems include receiving via a network, such as the Internet (Figure 2, 202), a customer request regarding delivery services (Figure 2, 206), validating the received information and sending the information to a database for recordation (Figure 2, 208). Then, in response, receiving an indication from the database regarding whether the information was successfully recorded and sending to the customer a confirmation number regarding the recorded information (Figure, 212). For example, a user desiring hold mail or redelivery services may navigate to a web page of the delivery service for requesting these services (Figure 2, 204). The user may then enter information regarding their request for services (Figure 2, 206). This request may then be forwarded to a database that is accessible by the particular delivery unit that provides delivery services to the user's address (Figure 2, 210). The delivery unit may then retrieve and handle the user's request accordingly (Figure 2, 212).
