Abstract

A configuration (100), all components of which are man portable in some embodiments, for holding panels (10) to protect assets against external force and impacts from airborne projectiles. An open box-like stackable frame module (800) holds panels (10) along a side of the frame (800). Multiple frames (800) are connected to construct a protective barrier, such as a wall (1000). Frames (800) include provisions for connection in a vertical configuration (1000) so as to allow stacking of the frames (800) to increase the height of the barrier. A method of installing is also provided.

Abstract

A configuration (600), all components of which are man portable, for holding inexpensive composite panels (100) that protect assets against external force and impacts from airborne projectiles. An open box-like stackable frame module (1400) holds thin panels (100) along a longitudinal axis of the frame (1300). Multiple frames (1400) are connected to construct a protective barrier, such as a wall (1500). The panels (100) may be formulated of a very high strength portland cement-based concrete with one side, both sides, or both sides and all edges, covered with elastic material, the combination of which significantly reduces penetration of projectiles. A panel (100) may be covered with specially formulated elastic material (103) comprising multiple layers, each layer of a different type or thickness of elastic material (103). The elastic material (103) may include reinforcing material such as fabric woven from available COTS high-strength fibers. The panels (100) may be fabricated using basic means available in rural locations. A method of installing is also provided.

Abstract

Armor units (100) for rubble mound structures including breakwaters, revetments, groins, jetties, etc. Embodiments are appropriate for ocean, river, lake and reservoir structure armoring, to prevent erosion from damaging hydrodynamic forces resulting from waves and water currents, and the like. An embodiment includes a central rectangular section ( 101) three 'half H-shaped' appendages ( 103), two identical frusta (end members) (102). and a flat bottom with two extrusions (106), nominally smaller than other appendages (103) and frusta (102). An embodiment is symmetric about two perpendicularly intersecting vertical planes extending through the centroid of the unit. The three half H-shaped members (103) are connected to outer parts of a side defined as the top and the two longitudinal sides of the central section. The three half H-shaped members (103) and the two end members (102) comprise four-sided frusta (102) that taper from a base at the central rectangular section (101) to four-sided distal ends (104). For select embodiments, the frusta (102) are generally symmetric.

Abstract

An information system, method, and computer program product is provided for the semi -distributed warning of existing or developing significant events and/or threats to all network bridges in the system, and then to affected users carrying a user warning and positioning device, while reporting the location of all user's carrying the user warning and positioning devices of the system to existing command and control systems. The present invention's future event warning capabilities permit those same users to be warned of impending events in enough time for the users to take positive actions in response to these events and/ or address those events. The system of the present invention includes a pager- like user warning and positioning device, worn by or carried by the individual user, or mounted in a vehicle or vessel, having a geographical positioning means therein, which periodically transmits the geographical location of the individual user, vehicle or vessel to local network bridges, and listens for warning/notification event messages transmitted by the local network bridge. When an event/threat warning is received by an affected user warning and positioning device, the pager-like user warning and positioning alerts the user via indicia relative to the event/situation, including audible spoken warnings and instructions on how to react, and may retransmit the event/threat warning to other user warning and positioning devices in the network, provided the threat has not occurred and the event/threat warning has not been previously relayed.
