The invention relates to a visual indicator device for an overhead conductor. The visual indicator device includes a housing and a light reflector that is fitted to the housing. The visual indicator device further includes a securing arrangement for securing the visual indicator device to the overhead conductor. The securing arrangement comprises securing gripping formations which are arranged to secure the visual indicator device to the overhead conductor, in particular secure to the sides of the overhead conductor. The invention also extends to a condition monitoring system for monitoring a condition of the visual indicator device and indirectly monitor the condition of the overhead contact wire.
The invention relates to a multipiece bogie, in particular a fabricated bogie that has a bolster having a first end region and a second opposite end region; a first side frame and a second opposite side frame, each side frame defining a central opening for accommodating and dismountably mounting to a respective end region of the bolster; and a reinforcement arrangement fitted at predetermined locations on at least one of the first side frame, second side frame, and bolster for reinforcing the multipiece bogie so as to, in use, enable a predetermined load of a wagon to be supported by the multipiece bogie. The invention further extends to a bolster that has a mounting arrangement for mounting to a corresponding mounting arrangement of a centre bowl arrangement. The invention further extends to a centre bowl arrangement which is arranged to be removably fitted to the bolster.

This invention concerns a regenerative braking system for installation on a bogie of a railway vehicle. The regenerative system includes an energy storage system for storing energy in mechanical or kinetic form, a transmission system and a control unit. The transmission system is selectively operable between different modes including a braking mode in which it transmits mechanical or kinetic energy from an axle of the bogie to the energy storage system and a drive mode in which it transmits mechanical or kinetic energy from the energy storage system to the axle of the bogie. The control unit is, in use, in communication with a prime mover of the train and the transmission system so as to receive control signals from the prime mover and automatically operate the mode of the transmission system in response to the control signals. The invention also concerns a railway bogie including a regenerative braking system, a regenerative energy management system and a method of operating the regenerative braking system.

F16D 61/00 - Brakes with means for making the energy absorbed available for use
F16H 9/12 - Gearings for conveying rotary motion with variable gear ratio, or for reversing rotary motion, by endless flexible members without members having orbital motion using belts, V-belts, or ropes engaging a pulley built-up out of relatively axially-adjustable parts in which the belt engages the opposite flanges of the pulley directly without interposed belt-supporting members
F16H 15/36 - Gearings providing a continuous range of gear ratios in which a member A of uniform effective diameter mounted on a shaft may co-operate with different parts of a member B in which the member B has a curved friction surface formed as a surface of a body of revolution generated by a curve which is neither a circular arc centered on its axis of revolution nor a straight line with concave friction surface, e.g. a hollow toroid surface
F16H 37/02 - Combinations of mechanical gearings, not provided for in groups comprising essentially only toothed or friction gearings
