Abstract
A system and method for providing emergency alarm communications in an fire panel network having a ring topology. The fire panels of the network each include an emergency interface between a panel processor and a panel transceiver. The emergency interface includes a communication link that is different from a normal TCP/IP communication link of the associated panel. The emergency interface comprises a separate communication path from the normal communication link. When normal TCP/IP communications are interrupted, the emergency interface is operable to transmit alarm signals to an adjacent panel in the network. The alarm signals may then be transmitted between subsequently connected panels and a workstation or central monitoring station via the normal TCP/IP mode. The workstation and/or central monitoring station can recognize the alarm signals as being generated by the originating panel. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.

Abstract
A backup communication system (BCS) is provided as part of a networked (TCP/IP) communication system. The BCS is coupled to an Ethernet cable used for TCP/IP communications. When the TCP/IP communications are interrupted, the BCS is operable to receive patient call signals from a plurality of patient room terminals over a secondary communication mode of the Ethernet cable, and to transmit those call signals to a nurses station. The call signals may be transmitted as voltage coded data such as voltage pulses or static levels. Information can be relayed back to one or more room terminals using the same signaling technique. In this way, basic communications can be achieved when the normal TCP/IP communications mode is unavailable.

Abstract
A backup communication system (BCS) is provided as part of a networked (TCP/IP) hospital communication system. The BCS is coupled to a power line used to provide power to a PoE switch. When the TCP/IP communications are interrupted, BCS is operable to receive patient call signals from a plurality of patient room terminals over a secondary communication mode of the power line, and to transmit those call signals to a nurses station. The call signals can be generated by coupling a pulse-coded AC signal onto the PoE wires, or by sending voltage coded data in one direction and current-coded data in the other direction. Different signals or signal levels can be used to distinguish, for example, between a normal patient call, a patient emergency call, and a code call. In this way, basic communications can be achieved when the normal TCP/IP communications mode is unavailable.

Abstract
The invention relates to a fire-extinguishing system of the high-pressure gas type, in which the gaseous extinguishing agent is stored under high pressure in at least one high-pressure gas bottle (1). The bottle valve operates, with interposition of a container attachment for the extinguishing gas, as a pressure-controlled, reducing and self-regulating control valve (3). By means of a predetermined control pressure which corresponds to the pressure in the extinguishing line system (2), the pressure of the extinguishing gas is reduced from, for example, 150 to 300 bar within the control valve to, for example, 60 bar. This makes it possible to dispense with all the high-pressure components used to date between the bottle valve and the extinguishing line system. Furthermore, a computational software is no longer required.
