A measurement station for assessing the cardiorespiratory fitness of a user. The measurement station includes a display, optionally a loudspeaker, a camera and a controller configured to calculate heart rates of the user from signals received from a heart rate sensor used by the user while performing a predefined test having first, second and third phases. The controller presents through the display and/or the loudspeaker instructions to the user to assume a certain position in the first phase and to perform a certain exercise in the second phase. The controller calculates a first heart rate value in the first phase during a first time interval. In the third phase, the controller calculates second and third heart rate values during initial and final time intervals, respectively, and calculates a parameter indicative of the cardiorespiratory fitness of the user based on the first, second and third heart rate values.

Abstract

An adaptive control method for a treadmill includes dividing the physical exercise surface of the treadmill into control zones; detecting, by an electronic control unit, a distance value of a user from a reference point. The electronic control unit compares the detected distance value with the first distance of the first boundary line of a first control zone. If the detected distance value is smaller than the first distance, the method further includes the electronic control unit controlling an increase in feeding speed of the physical exercise surface, and modifying the first distance of a first boundary line of the first control zone from a first value to a second value, along a development direction of the physical exercise surface in a second feeding direction opposite to the first feeding direction. The second value is either greater than or equal to the detected distance value.

A method transmits audio signals to exercise machines of a training class including providing a control unit accessible to a trainer user managing a training class. Exercise machines operatively connect to the control unit by a data communication network. The exercise machines include a first group of exercise machines used in the training class. The control unit and each exercise machine of the first group establish a data communication channel for transmitting audio signals between the control unit and the first group of exercise machines. The control unit receives a first audio signal representative of a voice control by the trainer user and a second audio signal representative of a piece of music selected by the trainer user. A method manages training of users on exercise machines provides a control unit of a user training class on exercise machines. The control unit is accessible by a trainer user managing the training class. Exercise machines are operatively connected to the control unit by a data communication network.
