Abstract

A damper includes a housing with at least one axially offset longitudinally extending guide channel for receiving a plunger of a piston assembly. The plunger is axially offset from a control rod extending through the housing and the piston assembly. A coil spring surrounds the housing and extends between a hemispherical cap of the housing and the piston. The plunger includes a friction pad which engages the guide channel of the housing to provide frictional inter-engagement for the damper. In one embodiment, the housing includes a pair of axially offset guide channels and the piston assembly includes a pair of axially offset plungers which extend within a pair of guides of the housing. One of the plungers includes a linear sensor which provides signal information for use by a washer control circuit.

Abstract

A coil spring integrally includes opposed extending ends to define a control rod for a damper. Thus, the spring and control rod are integrated into a one-piece structure. A friction rod damper includes a coil spring having a longitudinal axis, with the spring including a body and first and second extending ends which define a control rod for the damper. The extending ends terminate in attachments, and a damper member extends through the spring and having a first end secured to the first extending end of the spring in spaced relationship to the associated attachment. The damper member includes a second end with a container surrounding the second end of the spring in spaced relationship to the associated attachment. The container includes a damping element engaging the control rod to allow the spring to expand and contract under the damping action of the damping element.

Abstract

A ventilated damper includes a cylindrical piston housing with a spool-shaped piston mounted therein for supporting a foam polymeric friction element. The piston is coupled to a friction rod extending through a cap at one end of the housing. A spring extends between the piston and the capped end, while the lower end of the housing is enclosed by a second cap. The spool-shaped piston includes one or more relatively large venting apertures extending axially therethrough, such that, as the piston moves within the housing, air and/or grease can move through the piston. Apertures may also be formed in the end caps to allow air to escape from the housing during use.

Abstract

A damper includes a housing having a friction element receiving chamber for receiving a planar friction element, such as foam pads. The foam is injected with grease. Two rectangular greased foam pads are inserted into an open housing within a pad-receiving recess in the housing. A cap is then assembled onto the housing. The housing-foam-cap subassembly is next assembled onto a friction rod with a spring coaxially surrounding the friction rod, having one end abutting the housing and the other end abutting a base at the lower end of the friction rod.

Abstract

A sliding bearing for telescopic tubes includes a polymeric disk-shaped body having a central opening and a plurality of spaced outwardly extending shoes, a flexible web coupling adjacent shoes, and apertures for receiving fasteners for attaching the bearing to an inner tube. The shoes have opposed edges that contact ribs on an inner surface of an outer tube. A fixed bearing for telescopic tubes includes a plurality of arcuate segments having ends that overlap with ends of adjacent segments, with the segments including axially extending walls that are radially inwardly inclined. An aperture is formed in the overlapping ends of the segments, such that they can be fastened to an end of an outer tube with fasteners to allow the segments to be adjusted to permit a n inner tube to extend through the bearing.

A damper for damping a movement along a middle-longitudinal-axis, in particular for damping a seat in a vehicle, includes an outer housing extending along the middle-longitudinal-axis, a guiding and sealing unit closing a first housing end, a piston rod sealed by the guiding and sealing unit guided, an inner housing, which surrounds a working chamber, a damping fluid, a second housing end opposite the first housing end and a piston guided in the inner housing along the middle-longitudinal-axis and secured to the piston rod. The piston divides the working chamber into a first part-working chamber and a second part-working chamber. The piston includes at least one throughflow channel for connecting the chambers, an equalizing chamber arranged between the inner housing and the outer housing and a throttling channel integrated into the guiding and sealing unit. The throttling channel has a cross-sectional area comprising a length and an internal width.

Abstract

A fluid strut includes a frangible locking member including a generally cylindrical locking pin mounted to an outer cylindrical housing of the strut and extending radially inwardly toward a gas spring cylinder. The locking pin is movable between operative and inoperative positions. In the operative position, the spring-loaded frangible locking pin extends into engagement with the gas cylinder and can advance radially to a locking position once the outer housing extends beyond the location of the gas cylinder. In an inoperative position, the locking pin is held in a retracted position. The end of the locking pin has a reduced diameter, such that, if a purposeful force is placed upon the strut when in a locked position, the pin can shear, allowing the rod to be retracted within the cylinder and the closure member to be closed without damage.

Abstract

A hydraulic drive system readily adapted for either manual actuation or motor-driven actuation due to the unique design of the hydraulic drive and its coupling to either a hand crank or to a motorized drive to provide hydraulic pressure to lift cylinders that can be attached to table legs for vertical adjustment. The hydraulic drive includes a screw jack having an end extending from one end of a housing and splined or otherwise keyed. A manual crank arm or motorized drive assembly includes a coupling which mates with the end of the screw jack to provide a drive force for the hydraulic cylinder drive. The motorized drive assembly includes a pair of toothed hubs and an intermediate flexible sleeve allowing alignment of the motorized drive to the drive assembly as well as providing sound dampening, a cushioned coupling, and facilitates overcurrent detection.

Abstract

A closing hinge (5) for pivotally hinging a first part (2), in particular a door leaf, to a second part (3), in particular a door casement, comprises a central longitudinal axis (7), a rotation accepting unit (12) that can rotate about the central longitudinal axis (7) and is to be attached to the first part (2) which can rotate especially about the central longitudinal axis (7), and a freely rotating closing unit (13) that is connected to the rotation accepting unit (12) so as to transmit torque and is to be attached to the second part (3) which is stationary especially relative to the central longitudinal axis (7). The closing hinge (5) can be moved between a closing arrangement and a freely rotating arrangement. In the closing arrangement, the freely rotating closing unit (13) applies a closing torque to the rotation accepting unit (12) in a closing rotational direction about the central longitudinal axis (7), while in the freely rotating arrangement, the rotation accepting unit (13) can rotate freely, especially in a torque-free manner, relative to the freely rotating closing unit (12) about the central longitudinal axis (7).

Abstract

Damper including a housing enclosing a working chamber and a compensating chamber, a damping fluid located at least partially in the working chamber, a guide and sealing unit, which terminates the housing at a first housing end, a piston rod sealed by the guide and sealing unit, and guided out of the housing, and a piston fastened to the piston rod and guided in the housing along the center longitudinal axis of the damper. The piston divides the working chamber into first and second part working chambers. Arranged at the end of the first and second working chambers, respectively, is a first and second closing element, with respective compensating channels, which form a through-flow connection between the respective working chamber and the compensating chamber. The piston device has at least one through-flow channel connecting the two part working chambers and having an adjustable effective flow cross-section.

Abstract

A lift includes a housing for rotatably receiving a hydraulic cylinder with a piston rod coupled to a generally cylindrical support tube. A low profile connecting head for supplying hydraulic fluid to the cylinder is rotatably mounted to the housing but captively held to the housing in the axial (longitudinal) direction. This allows the connecting head to be rotated during installation of the lift to a table leg for easy coupling to the pressurized source of hydraulic fluid.
