Abstract

A control unit for a liquid heating appliance including a leaf spring, which includes a fixed end and a moveable portion that is movable relative to the fixed end between a closed position and an open position is provided. The leaf spring includes a kink between the fixed end and the moveable portion. A moveable electrical contact is mounted on the moveable portion and mates with a corresponding fixed electrical contact in an electrical power supply circuit when the leaf spring is in the closed position. Abstract

An apparatus for dispensing a predetermined volume of a warm liquid includes a heater, a pump and a temperature sensor sensitive to the temperature of the liquid upstream of the heater. A controller is arranged to receive upstream temperature data from the temperature sensor, calculate the amount of energy required to reach a desired final temperature, energize the heater for a calculated period of ON time, and dispense liquid for a calculated period of time that is at least partly contemporaneous with the calculated period of ON time. After the heater has been de-energized, the dispensed liquid removes residual heat so that the average temperature after dispensing the predetermined volume is the desired final temperature.

A liquid heating vessel comprising heating means for heating liquid in the vessel, electronic control means, electromagnetic switching means for interrupting or reducing power to the heating means, and temperature sensing means for providing a signal dependent on the temperature of liquid in the vessel to the control means.
