Abstract

Footlet (81) provided with a part manufactured on an apparatus for reciprocating knitting by knitting. The part comprises a ring-shaped opening (84) limited by an edge and an elastic strip (83) extending along the edge of the opening (84). The elastic strip (83) comprises an elastic tape attached to the edge of the knitted part by an adhesive. During applying the elastic strip (83) the knitted part of the ring-shaped opening (84) is cut off at least partly along the edge so that a lateral side of the elastic strip (83) almost coincides with a lateral side of the edge of the ring-shaped opening (84). Abstract

The present invention relates to a seamless foot-covering garment made of knitted courses, a method for manufacturing thereof as well as a respective circular machine for hosiery and knitwear. The foot-covering garment made of knitted courses, comprises a heel portion, a toe portion, a middle portion located between the heel portion and the toe portion and an opening between said heel portion, said middle portion and said toe portion for the insertion of an user's foot. The toe portion and the heel portion are aligned along a longitudinal direction. At said opening the middle portion ends with a right side edge and a left side edge. The garment is seamlessly knitted as a whole. At least one or both the right and left side edges comprise at least one elastic portion made up by a plurality of stretch stitches located at an end of knitted courses. The stretch stitches are composed of at least one main thread of the foot-covering garment knitted with at least one elastic thread. The elastic thread extends with no interruption in said at least one elastic portion, in that it is not cut at each knitted course of said at least one elastic portion.

Abstract

A circular knitting machine and a method for knitting an article with such a circular knitting machine, wherein the article is at least partially knitting by a reciprocating rotational movement of a needle cylinder in a forward direction and a backward direction. Needle elements are either being moved in axial direction of the needle cylinder by a stationary cam means according to a predetermined path of a stationary cam means or being moved in axial direction of the needle cylinder by a movable cam according to an amended path or being disengaged from the cam means and movable cam. The movement of each needle element near each movable cam can be individually controlled.

Abstract

A method for making, through a circular machine for making socks with alternate motion, an item of clothing like an ankle sock in “continuum” stitched without seams to form a single piece made up of a front end elongated in the shape of a pocket, that can be associated with the toe of the foot and comprising a first and a second front portion, a rear end, also pocket-shaped, able to be associated with the heel of the foot and comprising a first and a second rear portion, and a connecting part between the front and rear ends, comprising a sole portion and two side portions, having an opening in which to insert the foot, all of the portions of the ankle sock being made with stitching steps, in which such a method foresees many simultaneous independent yarn-feeders during all of the quoted stitching steps to obtain a single ankle sock.
