A wheel assembly and method of forming the same that incorporates a non-pneumatic tyre. The assembly includes a core means forming at least part of a wheel hub and leg members depending from the same, wherein at least part of the leg members are coated and/or over-moulded with at least one polymeric material.
An omnidirectional wheel apparatus (2) including at least one outer ring or mounting means (4a, 4b) located substantially around the circumference of the wheel onto which are rotatably mounted a plurality of rollers (6) or discs and one or more anchor means (12) that depend inwardly from the outer ring or mounting means. At least part of the anchor means is received or embedded in at least one polymeric material layer (10) located below and/or within outer ring or mounting means.
A wheel assembly incorporating a non-pneumatic tyre, said assembly including first inner web or rib members and one or more second outer web or rib members. The web or rib members comprise flexible or resilient material where the first inner web members are less flexible or substantially more rigid than the second outer web members.
A wheel and assembly or apparatus and method of forming the same that incorporates a non-pneumatic tyre, said assembly including a core means forming at least part of the wheel hub and leg members depending from the same, wherein at least part of said leg members are coated and/or over-moulded with at least one polymeric material.
A wheel assembly and method of assembling the same for use with an airless or non-pneumatic tyre. The assembly includes a rim member and at least one locking or retaining member. The rim member includes a first portion at least part of which is adapted to be attached to an axle in use, and at least part of the locking member is configured to detachably attach to at least part of the first portion of the rim member. Attachment to the rim member assists in retaining the tyre in position on rim member and/or the wheel assembly in use.
A wheel assembly (2) and method of assembling the same for use with an airless or non-pneumatic tyre (4), said assembly including a rim member (8) and at least one locking or retaining member (6). Said rim member including a first portion at least part of which is adapted to be attached to an axle in use, and at least part of said locking member is configured to detachably attach to at least part of the first portion of the rim member. Attachment to the rim member assists in retaining the tyre in position on rim member and/or the wheel assembly in use.
A tyre (2) suitable for use with a forklift truck which includes a first outer layer (4) of polymeric material and one or more layers of polymeric material substantially under the first layer (4). The outermost layer (4) is substantially more flexible than the one or more layers underneath the same.
A tyre (2) suitable for use with a forklift truck which includes a first outer layer (4) of polymeric material and one or more layers of polymeric material substantially under the first layer (4). The outermost layer (4) is substantially more flexible than the one or more layers underneath the same.
A method of manufacturing a wheel (1) and a tyre (2) comprising the steps of providing a wheel and moulding a tyre to the wheel. A mould (13) may be placed over the wheel, such that a cavity (14) is formed between an inner surface of the mould and a rim of the wheel, for receiving material to form the tyre, which may be in a liquid form and allowed to solidify in the mould to form a tyre attached to the wheel.
A wheel rim for use with an inflatable tyre for a vehicle comprises a pressure relief valve or a weakened section in the rim (11). The valve may comprise a main body (1) having flanges (2, 3) sealing against opposite faces of the rim (11) and legs to retain the valve in the rim. The weakened section may comprise a number of fingers radiating out from a central point. When the pressure inside a tyre on the rim exceeds a certain value the valve or weakened section releases the pressure to prevent over inflation and possible injury.
