Abstract

A shelter such as a team shelter includes, for example, a frame structure having left and right frames, and a canopy. The canopy is positionable in a first position with a front portion of the canopy disposed at a first elevation between front portions of the left and right frames so that the front portion of the canopy, and front portions of the left and right frames to define a front facing opening allowing access by one or more people into the shelter and under the canopy. The canopy is positionable in a second position with the front portion of the canopy disposed at a second lower elevation relative to the left and right frames so that the canopy disposed in the second position results in the shelter being less susceptible to wind induced tip over compared to the shelter with the canopy disposed in the first position.

Abstract

A form is provided for constructing a jump pit with a sand area. The form is constructed in sections. Each section has an inside wall and an outside wall. A support member is located between the outside wall and the inside wall. The sections are secured together onsite. Caps are mounted on the support members. The caps include an inclined surface which slops upwardly and away from the sand area forming the inclined surface. A cover over the sand area is supported by the inclined surface. Optionally, a chamber is located adjacent the outside wall. A grate covers the chamber and the grate is supported by a brace. A mat covers the grate. Openings in the grate and in the mat permit sand through them, thrown from the sand area to drop into the chamber.

Abstract

A collapsible goal post includes a lower support extending from a playing field; a upper support having a first end and a second end, and a pivot assembly attaching the first end of the upper support to the lower support; an upper assembly comprising two uprights and a crossbar having two ends. The crossbar is attached to the second end of the support at about the midpoint of the crossbar. One of the two uprights is attached to each end of the crossbar. The upper support is configured to pivot about the pivot point assembly to move the upright assembly from a raised position to a lowered position. The two uprights are substantially perpendicular to the playing field in the raised position, and are substantially parallel to and contacting the playing field in the lowered position while the upper assembly and upper support remain attached to the lower support. In another embodiment, the goal post includes a hydraulic cylinder system coupled to the upper support and the lower support to hinder a rate of pivoting of the goal post about the pivot assembly.

Abstract

Rotatable sleeves are disposed adjacent the ends of the crossbar of a goalpost. A stub is integrally formed with each of the sleeves and each stub protrudes through an opening in the crossbar. The opening in the crossbar is dimensioned to permit back to front movement of the stub and corresponding rotation of the sleeve until verticality of the stub and its associated upright is achieved. At that point, the sleeve is locked against further rotation by means of a tapping block previously installed in the sleeve and engaged with a serrated bolt through an appropriately dimensioned opening in the crossbar and corresponding holes in the sleeve. Once the bolts are tightened into the tapping block, the sleeve is drawn tightly against the interior surface of the crossbar, thereby locking the sleeve and the stub and the upright against further rotation.

Abstract

A communications box for use beneath the surface of artificial turf includes a container having a peripherally-extending upper edge. A first resilient flexible seal extends vertically from and along the peripherally-extending top edge of the container. A cover includes a peripherally-extending edge, and at least one hand hole extending through the cover. A second resilient flexible seal extends vertically from and along the peripherally-extending edge of the cover. The cover and the second flexible seal are sized to be received within the first flexible seal extending from the peripherally-extending top edge of the container, and the first and the second resilient flexible seals prevent material from falling into the communications box when the cover is removed from the container. Seals may be provided around the hand hole and a lid receivable in the hand hole.

Abstract

A communications box for use beneath the surface of a track or artificial turf in an athletic field. The communications box has includes a base two major sides, and two minor sides. A partition is located between the major sides and generally parallel to the minor sides. The partition is secured to partition brackets. A cover bracket is located below the top edge of the major sides. Stud nuts are affixed to the outside of the major sides and minor sides. Stud bolts which engage the stud nuts retain the cover bracket and the partition bracket in place. Bolt holes for the stud bolts in the cover bracket are in pairs to permit the partition and the cover bracket to be raised and lowered for use with a turf cover under artificial turf and with a track cover under a track.

Abstract

A form for constructing a thrower's circle includes a pair of half sections. Each half section has an upper surface and a base surface and two full length members and two half length members. The full length members and the half length members are connected together substantially at right angles to form a rectangle with four corners. A corner brace is located in each of the four corners. An inside cross member and an outside cross member extend between the half length members and are generally parallel to the full length members. A pair of semi-circles, each having substantially the same diameter that is larger than the length of the half length members and less than the length of the full length members. Means are provided for securing the half sections together so that the semi-circles form a full circle. Tubes extend from the circle toward the base to drain water from with in the circle.
