Abstract
The structural diagnosis method comprises four steps, namely an application step, wherein a mechanical stress is applied by impact to a concrete railroad tie (2, 3) to be diagnosed, a detection step, wherein a vibration generated by the mechanical stress and propagating in the diagnosed tie is detected on the surface of the diagnosed tie and transformed into a time-dependent vibratory signal, a processing step, wherein the time-dependent vibratory signal is electronically processed to obtain a frequency spectrum therefrom, and an analysis step, wherein the diagnosis reference is compared to a structural damage.

Abstract
A measuring device for geomechanical characterization of a soil, the measuring device including a housing, a dynamic penetrometer, a power supply battery, accommodated in the housing, and an electronic system accommodated in the housing and connected to the battery. The electronic system comprises an accelerometer, as well as a distance sensor, which, in use, is oriented towards a soil and which is adapted to determine the distance between the measuring device and the soil surface by measuring the time required for a wave to travel back and forth between the distance sensor and the soil surface. The electronic system also comprises a processing unit which, when the battery powers the entire electronic system, is adapted to apply processing to measuring signals coming from the accelerometer and the distance sensor.

Abstract

The method includes additional automated steps consisting of measuring the position of the camera while it slides inside the tube, i.e., the dep that which the images are recorded, and couplingan analysis of the recorded images as a function of the depth with the strength measurements of the seat to characterize the different layers of the seat.

Abstract
