Abstract
An adjustable mount for positioning an x-ray source comprising a vertical member that can swivel around a yaw axis, a circular arc-shaped yoke having two ends and passing through the vertical member, a gantry attached to the two ends of the yoke, and an x-ray source attached to the gantry. The x-ray source can be rotated around the yaw axis by swiveling the vertical member, pitched around a pitch axis by pitching the gantry, and/or rotated around a roll axis by passing the yoke through the vertical member. A method for x-ray imaging that includes centering an x-ray source at an aiming position within an adjustable mount, and aiming the centered x-ray source at an x-ray sensor by rotating the x-ray source around a roll axis of the adjustable mount. An x-ray source mounting system comprising an x-ray source and an adjustable mount to which the x-ray source is attached.

Abstract
Method, system, apparatus, and computer program products for removing marker artifacts from a tomosynthesis dataset. In the method, a first plurality of projection images are acquired by tomosynthesis x-ray imaging, the first plurality of projection images containing at least one imaged representation of at least one alignment marker. In one aspect, the imaged representation of the at least one alignment marker on the first plurality of projection images is minimized to generate a second plurality of projection images. In another aspect, a plurality of tomographic images are reconstructed from the second plurality of projection images.

Abstract
A dental positioning system (100) and method employing the system (100) are described. The system (100) includes at least one receptor holder (104) having an arm (112) extending from a receptor grip (114). The receptor grip (114)retains a receptor (122) in a fixed position within the receptor grip (114) and with respect to the arm. (112) The system (100) also includes an alignment ring (110) having a window (108) formed therein and having at least one opening (106) corresponding to the at least one receptor holder (104). The opening (108) is constructed to receive the arm (112) of the receptor holder (104) such that the receptor (122) is substantially centered with respect to the window(108).

Abstract
A sensor that is at least partially covered by a sheath, and a positioning arm that is electrically coupled to the sensor, and arranged outside of the sheath, such that a hygienic barrier is formed around the sensor. The sensor is used for filmless dental radiography and the positioning arm enables positioning of the sensor in a patient's mouth. The positioning arm includes a contact that pierces the sheath and establishes an electrical connection with the sensor when the positioning arm is coupled to the sensor.

Abstract
An auxiliary component that is used with a medical device is modified to provide for additional or enhanced functionality. In one specific embodiment, a sheath surrounds an intraoral electronic image sensor, and is provided with signal conductors integrated therein. Electrical communication is provided between the sensor and the sheath, such as via a direct electrical connection, a capacitive or inductive coupling or an optical link. The sheath, and particularly the signal conductors integrated therein, connects to a cable which in turn connects to another device, such as a processing module or computer.

Abstract
A method of operating a digital x-ray system having a plurality of information processors, each information processor associated with a corresponding one of a plurality of operatories. The method includes detecting at least one image in response to at least one energy source emitting energy, while the energy source is associated with an extension arm which is positioned to serve a selected one of the operatories, and outputting an electrical image data signal representing the detected image. The method also includes detecting a position of the extension arm, and automatically routing the outputted electrical image data signal to the information processor associated with the selected operatory based on the detected position.

Abstract
An electronic imaging sensor, which has an improved immunity to noise caused by unwanted x-rays, images an object by collecting charge carriers produced in the sensor when the object is exposed to x-rays. One or more shielding areas are formed proximate the sensor to capture or sweep away any undesirable charge carriers generated by the unwanted x-rays. The shielding areas extend deeper beneath the surface of the sensor than the depth at which the desired charge carriers corresponding to the object being imaged is collected. The shielding areas capture charge carriers formed by the unwanted x-rays, which penetrate into the sensor to a greater depth than the depth at which the. desired charge carriers are collected. In this way, the undesirable charge carriers are captured near the region where they are generated and before they migrate towards the surface where they can be collected and manifest as noise in the resulting image of the object.

Abstract
An electronic x-ray imaging sensor that flexibly fits within a patient's mouth includes a flexible portion and a rigid portion. The flexible portion includes an array of detection devices, and the rigid portion includes complementary circuitry for controlling and/or obtaining image data from the array. The flexible portion may be detachable from the rigid portion, which allows the flexible portion to be disposable while the detachable portion is reusable.
