Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the non-machining production of an external thread on workpieces made of metal for use as a stable connecting or fastening element, and to a device suitable for performing said method. The split-die tool for "compressing" or "expanding" has at least two jaws (4) that can be moved towards one another, said jaws having an arc-shaped inner wall with thread profiling (6) as a negative mould surface, and at least one fixed or movable jaw (5) with an inner wall not having a thread profile. This jaw or these jaws (5) without thread profiling take on the function of a guide or support in the process, both for the blank and the adjoining jaws that can be moved towards one another.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing metal components with a shank that is deformed along the longitudinal axis thereof into at least one helix, and a device suitable for performing said method. Proceeding from the disadvantages of the known prior art, a method suitable for the economical mass production of components having more stable helices is to be created. For this purpose, a blank (7) is introduced into a guide (12), and then in at least one multi-section split mould (10) with at least two movable jaws (11), the internal wall of which is provided with a helically formed contour (11a) designed as a negative, through impact extrusion by means of an extrusion die (13) which strikes the free end of the blank (7), the shank (8) of the blank is extruded through an outlet opening in the split mould (10), the centre of area of which is off-set from the centre line M of the tool (10) or of the component (1) in an offset direction, with the result that the shank (8) of the blank (7) is deformed into at least one stable strand (4) in the form of a helix.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the non-cutting production of connecting, fastening or closing elements having an external thread from metal, for use as hollow screws, hollow shafts, threaded sleeves, and to a device suitable for carrying out the method. Starting from the disadvantages of the known prior art, a method is to be created which is easier to implement and is characterised by improved cost-effectiveness. According to the invention, a blank 27 is inserted into a multi-part split mold 6 having a mold cavity, the internal wall of which is provided with a negative threaded profile 10. In the closed state of the split tool 6, at least one first die or tool 35 engages as a counter-support on one of the two end faces of the blank 27. On the opposing end face 29, material is pressed into the cavities or spaces of the negative threaded profile 10 of the split tool 6 by means of an axially movable second die or mandrel 15 by upsetting and/or extrusion in order to generate the external thread. After the extrusion operation has ended, the split tool 6 is opened and the completed connecting or fastening element 39 is removed therefrom.

Abstract

The aim of the invention is to devise an alternative method for producing elongated metal components having helical grooves, especially twist drills or endless screws, and a device suitable for carrying out said method, said method being suitable for large-scale production and characterized by an improved profitability. The method according to the invention comprises at least one cold-forming step III wherein the blank (1) is introduced into a guide matrix (9) and is then cold-formed in a split die (3) having at least two mobile die segments (4, 5, 6). The inner walls of the die segments have at least one section having a contour (7) that is designed as a negative for forming helical grooves (8). A male die (13) which is axially mobile and which acts upon the free end of the blank (1) present in the guide matrix (9) presses the blank (1) to at least some extent through the center opening (17) of the closed split die (3), helical grooves (8) being produced during the contact with the die contour (7) under the effect of plastic cold-forming.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the non-cutting production of an outside thread on hollow, particularly thin-walled, metal work pieces for use as hollow screws, hollow shafts, threaded sleeves or fittings as stable connecting or fastening elements, and to a device suited for carrying out the method. Within a multistage press (20) comprising a displaceable carriage (21) and a stationary work piece carrier unit (22), the pre-fabricated hollow blank (4b) is inserted in stage VI into a multipart split tool (1, 8) having a cavity, the inside wall of which is provided with a negative threaded profile. In the closed state of the split tool (1, 8), at least one mandrel (6) is inserted into the central opening of the blank (4b) and the blank (4b) is widened, wherein the contours of the threaded profile are filled by a radial material flow and subsequently the finished work piece (4) is removed.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing annular, rotationally symmetrical workpieces (5), such as rings or cores for matrices, made of metal and/or ceramic powder, particularly for dies for pressing powder or massive forming of workpieces or components made of metal. Starting from the disadvantages of the known state of the art, a method is proposed allowing conversion to different qualities at short notice, and characterized by low process engineering effort. The invention proposes that a beam core (3) or a shaft-shaped element having at least one beam core is clamped into a rotatable clamping device (2), and is caused to rotate. The beam core (3) is made of highly temperature-resistant material and has at least one segment (4), the outer diameter thereof corresponding to or being smaller than the inner diameter of the workpiece (5) to be produced. Metal and/or ceramic powder is fused onto the jacket surface of the beam core (3) at a defined distance from the clamping fixture (2) by means of a laser head (1), and is applied in layers until the final wall thickness of the workpiece blank has been formed. After cooling, the beam core (3) is partially or completely removed from the workpiece blank (5), and the blank (5) is machined on the inner and/or outer sides thereof to achieve the final dimensions. The proposed method allows very economical production of rotationally symmetrical workpieces in short-run production.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing metallic workpieces by means of cold or semi-hot forming, particularly by means of pressing of blanks into a mold, which comprises at least one core with a working hollow space, and at least one reinforcement, which pretensions the core, as well as a suitable mold. Based on the disadvantages of the known prior art, a method is to be created that makes it possible to avoid longer production interruptions due to the exchange of the core, and/or the reinforcement for changing the working hollow space. Further, a suitable mold is to be created for the same. For this purpose, the recommended solution is to heat the core (2) by means of direct, and/or indirect heating for adjusting the working hollow space (3) to a nominal size for the workpiece (4) to be produced, to a pre-determined temperature, and, in case of deviations occurring between the actual size and the nominal size of the workpieces (4) during the production process, by means of further heating of the core (2), and/or cooling of at least the reinforcement (6), to adjust the size of the working hollow space (3) and if necessary, the pretensioning of the reinforcement (6) to the nominal size. Using this method, changes of the working hollow space within a range of several one-hundredths of mm can be achieved, wherein practically no interruptions of the production process occur. In case of measurement deviations occurring in the workpieces, no complex exchanges of the core are necessary.
