Abstract

Provided is an anticancer agent which comprises an anti-PD-1 antibody or an anti-PD-L1 antibody as an active ingredient, functioning to reverse the unresponsiveness of iNKT cells in which anergy has been induced by administration with an iNKT cell ligand. The anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 antibody blocks the PD-1/PD-L1-mediated signaling pathway not only to prevent the iNKT cell ligand-induced iNKT cell anergy, but also to reverse the unresponsiveness of already anergic iNKT cells to produce cytokines. In addition, the anti-PD1 or anti-PD-L1 antibody ensures the potent anti-tumor activity of iNKT cells as demonstrated by a significant reduction in the number of metastatic nodules in B16F10 melanoma metastasis models in vivo. Collectively, the anticancer agent can be very useful in the treatment of cancer, particularly metastatic cancer.

Abstract

A method is provided for fabricating a NAND flash memory array having vertical channels and sidewall gate structure and a fabricating method of the same. The NAND flash memory array has insulator strip structure and one or more semiconductor strips are next to the both sides of the insulator strip. The NAND flash memory array allows for an improvement of the integrity by decreasing the memory cell area by half and less, and solves the problems of the conventional three-dimensional structure regarding isolation between not only channels but also source/drain regions at the bottom of trenches. The method for fabricating the NAND flash memory array having a pillar structure uses the conventional CMOS process and an etching process with minimum masks, enables to cut down costs.

Abstract

A NAND flash memory array, an operating method and a fabricating method of the same are provided. The NAND flash memory array has a cut-off gate line under a control gate in order to operate two cells having vertical channels independently with one control gate (i.e., a shared word line). The memory cell area is reduced considerably compared to the conventional vertical channel structure, and is better for high integration. A shared cut-off gate turn off is made during a programming operation and prevents programming the opposite cell by a self-boosting effect. It is possible to shield electrically with a shared word line (a control gate) during a reading operation, and minimizes the effect of storage condition of the opposite cell. Also, the NAND flash memory array can be fabricated by using the conventional CMOS process.

Abstract

2N layer, which has lower electrical resistivity than CrN, is selectively fabricated on the surface of the base metal. The interfacial contact resistance of the separator is reduced and the efficiency of the fuel cell can be improved. In addition, since a low-priced general metals or alloys such as stainless steels, carbon steels, alloy steels or even nonferrous alloys can be used as the base metal, the cost of the fabrication of metallic separator can be significantly reduced. The thickness of the separator can be made as small as to 0.2 mm, the weight and total thickness of a fuel cell stack can be significantly reduced.

Abstract

The present invention relates to an engine-generator system which drives an engine so as to generator power. The engine-generator includes an engine, a generator, a rectifier, an inverter, and a super capacitor. The super capacitor is connected between positive and negative terminals of an output terminal of the rectifier, and is electrically connected in parallel to the inverter. When the magnitude of a load which receives power from the engine-generator increases instan¬ taneously, electric energy stored in the super capacitor is discharged so as to be supplied to the load. Therefore, it is possible to enhance the response speed of the engine-generator system in response to the variation in load magnitude. Further, it is possible to solve the problem of the conventional engine-generator system where a mechanical response (that is, control of engine speed) in response to the variation in load magnitude is slow.

Abstract

A real-time simulation method for thin shells undergoing large deformation is provided. Shells are thin objects such as leaves and papers that can be abstracted as 2D structures. Development of a satisfactory physical model that runs in real-time but produces visually convincing animation of thin shells has been remaining a challenge in computer graphics. For real-time integration of the governing equation, a modal warping method for shells is developed. This new simulation framework results from making extensions to the original modal warping which was developed for the simulation of 3D solids.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a biocatalytic electrochemical three-dimensional electrode and to a method for the elimination of nitrogen using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a biocatalytic electrochemical three-dimensional electrode comprising a membrane-permeable microbe and electrically conductive powder immobilised in a porous carrier, and it also relates to a method for the elimination of nitrogen using the same. Further, the three-dimensional electrode of the present invention can also be used in microbial fuel cells, biosensors and the like. The biocatalytic electrochemical three-dimensional electrode of the present invention fundamentally prevents unnecessary extra pollution in that it does not use an electron-transfer mediator, and it does not require the supply of any external carbon source which is a major reason for increased processing costs. Further, since the reaction takes place within the whole volume of the electrode instead of a reaction on a film constituting a two-dimensional electrode of the prior art, the invention allows for a dramatic increase in the reaction rate, which has been confirmed through increased efficiency in the process of denitrification which is a typical application for biocatalytic electrochemical three-dimensional electrodes. In addition, the biocatalytic electrochemical three-dimensional electrode of the present invention is also advantageous in that it is easy to produce and it can readily be employed in other areas such as microbial fuel cells and biosensors.

Abstract

Disclosed herein are methods of diagnosing, preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease based on the use of an inhibitor for the binding of amyloid-β (Aβ) to FcγRIIb, and a method of screening the inhibitor. The inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of an FcγRIIb protein or a variant thereof, an FcγRIIb extracellular domain, an anti-FcγRIIb antibody, an FcγRIIb-specific peptide and an FcγRIIb-specific siRNA. The inhibitor reduces the toxic signaling and intracellular translocation of Aβ and the neurotoxicity, neuronal cell death and memory impairment mediated by Aβ by inhibiting the binding between Aβ and FcγRIIb. Thus, the inhibitor is useful in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
