Abstract

The present invention relates to a device for supporting the head of a patient during cardiopulmonary resuscitation and, more specifically, to a head-up system for cardiopulmonary resuscitation using an airbag and a method of controlling same. The head-up system is configured such that the patient's head is positioned higher than the heart to increase cerebral perfusion pressure and cerebral blood flow during cardiopulmonary resuscitation while the patient's head is tilted horizontally to prevent neck flexion so as to maintain airway and vascular patency. In addition, the head-up system is configured such that the compressive force applied to the chest during cardiopulmonary resuscitation is not absorbed or reduced.

Abstract

In the present invention process, the inventors have confirmed that the intracellular ATP and mitochondrial membrane potentials of cells isolated from hearing-impaired patients having mutations in the BCAP31 gene are significantly lower than those of normal persons. The finding indicates that the hearing-impaired patients having mutations in the BCAP31 gene have significantly lower-functioning mitochondria. In addition, susceptibility to cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity has also been confirmed to increase. On the other hand, treating lymphoid cell lines of the hearing-impaired patients with isolated mitochondria derived from stem cells has been confirmed to increase the activity of intracellular mitochondria and reduce cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity. Furthermore, the functioning of intracellular mitochondria has also been confirmed to recover when the isolated mitochondria derived from stem cells were applied to lymphocyte cell lines derived from hearing-impaired patients having mutations in the ferredoxin reductase (FDXR) gene, and fibroblasts derived from hearing-impaired patients having mitochondrial gene mutation (m.A1555G). Therefore, the mitochondria according to the present invention can effectively alleviate or treat hereditary hearing impairment.

Abstract

The present invention relates to biomarkers for predicting drug treatment responsiveness in bipolar disorder and use thereof. In the present invention, protein markers in blood, showing differences in expression level between treatment responsive and non-responsive groups according to degrees of drug treatment response in bipolar disorder patients, have been discovered, and by quantifying proteins through a multiple reaction detection method, desired proteins can be quantified with high sensitivity without using antibodies. Therefore, the blood-derived protein markers according to the present invention are expected to be useful for predicting drug treatment responsiveness of bipolar disorder patients or predicting the prognosis of bipolar disorder patients treated with drugs.

Abstract

Provided are an aqueous humor drainage device capable of preventing low intraocular pressure by reducing the effective inner diameter of an aqueous drainage path even when a tube having a large inner diameter is used, and a manufacturing method thereof. The aqueous humor drainage device comprises: a first tube having a first end portion and a second end portion at both opened ends thereof, allowing aqueous humor to be introduced into the anterior chamber of the eyeball via the first end portion, and discharging the introduced aqueous humor to a subconjunctival space or the outside via the second end portion; and a second tube having a third end portion and a fourth end portion at both open ends thereof and coupled to the inner circumferential surface of the first tube. Here, the third end portion is disposed between the first end portion and the second end portion, the fourth end portion is disposed to overlap the second end portion, and the first tube and the second tube are integrally formed by being made of the same material.

Abstract

The present invention relates to: an organ-on-a-chip for mimicking kidney tissue in which renal tubular epithelial cells and renal fibroblasts are co-cultured; a method for manufacturing the organ-on-a-chip; a device for co-culturing three types of cells; and a method for screening for renal fibrosis therapeutic agents by using the organ-on-a-chip. A kidney-on-a-chip according to one embodiment of the present invention has the excellent effects of enabling the time and errors required in screening for renal fibrosis therapeutic agents to be minimized and renal fibrosis therapeutic agents to be more conveniently and simply screened for through an objective evaluation index.

Abstract

This resistance plate detector for reading positive and negative signals with differential amplifiers, respectively, includes: a plurality of first positive (+) signal strips formed in a strip shape extending in a first direction on a first surface of a first substrate and arranged in parallel to each other; a plurality of first negative (-) signal strips formed in the same shape as the first positive signal strips on a second surface opposite to the first surface of the first substrate, facing each corresponding first positive signal strip in pairs, and arranged in parallel to each other in the first direction; and a plurality of first ground strips formed in the same shape between the plurality of first positive signal strips and the plurality of first negative signal strips and arranged in parallel to each other in the first direction, wherein output signals of a pair of a first positive signal strip and a first negative signal strip, which correspond to each other, are input to one differential amplifier. In the present invention, the ground strips have a rectangular shape or a modified shape thereof, like the signal strips, thus reducing noise of the resistance plate detector to thereby improve performance.
