Abstract

A method for manufacturing a composite material molding comprising: a lamination step for laminating a fibrous filler material on a molding die; a de-pressurizing step for covering the molding die, on which the fibrous filler material has been laminated, with an airtight film to form an airtight space and de-pressurizing the interior of the airtight space; and an impregnation step for impregnating a resin material in the fibrous filler material. The method for manufacturing a composite material molding accomplishes the formation of the airtight space by bonding the molding die to the airtight film with a sealing material comprising a (meth)acrylate polymer as an adhesive. The composite material molding obtained by this method can be used suitably in fields in which composite materials of a fibrous filler material such as glass fibers or carbon fibers are commonly used, for example, the casing, structural member, etc. of a dynamic body or a moving body.

Abstract

The present invention pertains to a gelling promoter that is obtained by mixing a metathesis polymerization catalyst activator and a norbornene-based monomer, and that promotes the gelling during the polymerization of the norbornene-based monomer in the presence of the catalyst. The gelling promoter is prepared by mixing essentially only two ingredients, namely the activator and the norbornene-based monomer. The present invention also pertains to a liquid formulation that is for reaction injection molding (RIM) and that comprises the gelling promoter. The addition of the gelling promoter to the liquid formulation for RIM produces the effect of reducing the duration of the gelling that occurs when the liquid formulation has come into contact with the catalyst. The use of the liquid formulation for RIM, comprising such a gelling promoter, as a formulation for RIM methods produces the effect of enabling the manufacture of a molded body that retains high mechanical strength and has favorable surface conditions, and the effect of reducing the amount of resin residue on the mold after use. The reaction injection–molded body of the present invention exhibits the effect of retaining high mechanical strength and having favorable surface conditions.

Abstract

[PROBLEMS] To provide a norbornene monomer containing fluid composition for reaction injection molding which can attain excellent intimate blending and give products of desired shapes even when the shapes are complicated ones having bosses and/or ribs; a process for manufacturing products of reaction injection molding by the use of the fluid composition; and products of reaction injection molding obtained by the process. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A norbornene monomer containing fluid composition to be molded by reaction injection molding through in-mold bulk polymerization of the norbornene monomer, characterized by containing both a norbornene monomer and heat-expandable microcapsules each comprising a shell made of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated acid derivative polymer having an acid group and a liquid blowing agent enveloped in the shell; a process for manufacturing products of reaction injection molding by the use of the fluid composition; and products of reaction injection molding obtained by the process.
