Abstract

ABSTRACT A film-forming formulation can be added to boiler feed water that is fed into a once-through steam generator (OTSG) that is part of a steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) operation recovering bitumen or heavy oil from an oil sands reservoir, to form a protective film on metal surfaces of piping, heat exchangers, the OTSG, as well as downstream units on the blowdown and steam side. The film can facilitate protections against fouling, scaling and corrosion. The film-forming formulation can include an amine based compound as well as solubilizing substances to facilitate delivery of the formulation as an aqueous solution into the boiler feed water. 24 Date recu/Date Received 2020-07-07
