Processes for producing an oxazaborolidines and their use in animal feeds. One process reacts an amino alcohol with a boronic acid with azeotropic removal of water to provide a mixture of the starting materials and an oxazaborolidine end product; and purifying the oxazaborolidine end product. One purification step dissolves a bicarboxylic acid in water and mixes this solution with the end product to precipitate out the starting material as a salt and produce an oxazaborolidine product filtrate. An alternative process reacts amino alcohol with trihydridoboron (BH3) in an organic solvent; and immediately alkylates the unalkylated intermediate compound produced using Alkyl Lithium to provide the oxazaborolidine end product.
This disclosure relates to a method for reducing somatic cell count (SCC) in milk of a ruminant lactating animal, for increasing milk fat yield of a ruminant lactating animal, and/or for use in the prevention or treatment of mastitis in a ruminant animal, for increasing fecal consistency of a ruminant animal, for reducing methane production of a ruminant animal. In particular, this disclosure relates to a specified compound for use in the method, and to a nutrition composition for ruminant animals comprising the specified compound.

A method for the preparation of oxazaborolidines having a formylation step of an amino acid using formic-acetic anhydride (FAM) with formic acid solvent to produce a formyl amino acid; a reduction step of the formyl amino acid to the corresponding amino alcohol by reacting the formyl amino acid with lithium aluminium hydride; and a condensation step to condense the amino alcohol using a boronic acid to provide the desired oxazaborolidine.

A method for selective cyclization or de-cyclization of a mix of sophorolipids in the lactonic or acidic forms, wherein the lactonic form is produced by reacting a mixture of sophorolipids with a strong methylating agent to provide an end product having at least 70% w/w sophorolipids in their lactonic form; and wherein the acidic form is produced by reacting a mixture of sophorolipids with a genetically engineered enzyme having at least 50% homology to lipase B to provide an end product having at least 70% w/w sophorolipids in their acidic form.
