Abstract

A latch includes a protrusion that extends from a latch body. The protrusion moves from a fully extended position to a partially extended position when the door or window to which the latch is mounted is moved to a closed position. This movement of the protrusion disengages an anti-slam mechanism, allowing movement of a latch mechanism. Further, the partially extended protrusion engages in an anti-lift recess in the strike. Alternatively, the protrusion may extend from the strike and engage with an anti-lift recess in the latch body.

Abstract

A window stay includes a riveted friction pivot joint between a first element and a second element. A rivet passes through apertures in the first and second elements. A first washer is positioned between the inner side of the first element and the inner side of the second element. A second washer is positioned between the rivet head and the outer side of the second element. The first washer may reside at least partly within a recess formed in the first element. The second washer may reside at least partly within a concave region formed in the underside of the rivet head. The aperture in the second element may form a cylindrical surface that bears against the rivet shaft without the use of a washer between the cylindrical surface and the rivet shaft.

Abstract

A window fastener includes a lever handle (10) rotatably mounted to a base (14). The handle (10) is selectively movable to a closed position, an open position and a venting position. A flap (16) is pivotally coupled to the base (14). Abstract

A key (K) and lock (10) system includes a lock (10) with a spacer element (14) attached to the plug of the lock. The spacer element (14) cooperates with a shoulder (S) of a key (K) to enable that key to operate the lock. When the spacer element is detached from the plug, the key if inserted does not align properly with the lock. The system is particularly suited to locks with construction keying.
